SOFTBALL: Sinks strikes out 16 as Legacy edges Cimarron

Amanda Sink fired a three-hitter with 16 strikeouts Tuesday as Legacy’s softball team edged visiting Cimarron-Memorial, 2-1.

Legacy took advantage of two Cimarron errors in the sixth to break a 1-1 tie. Braelin Brockway scored on a fielder’s choice by Clarissa Lona.

Sink allowed an unearned run in the fourth when Kaeley Roldan reached on an error and scored on Cierra Davis’ RBI triple.

The Longhorns tied the game in the bottom of the inning when Brockway doubled and scored on an error.

Cimarron’s Rosie Del Rosario allowed two hits, struck out three and walked two in six innings.

Spring Valley 8, Faith Lutheran 3 — At Faith Lutheran, winning pitcher Michaela Hood went 2-for-4 with a home run, two runs and two RBIs to lead the Grizzlies over the Crusaders.

Hood went the distance, allowing two earned runs on six hits. She struck out six with one walk.

Stephanie Huff went 2-for-4 with a home run, two runs and three RBIs for Spring Valley, and teammate Raven Bierlein was 2-for-4 with a run.

Faith Lutheran’s Clara Heislen went 2-for-3 with a homer, two runs and two RBIs, and Mosie Foley was 2-for-2 with a double and a run for the Crusaders.

Sierra Vista 5, Pahrump Valley 1 — At Pahrump, Kalei Watkins fired a one-hitter with 11 strikeouts, no walks and no earned runs, and smacked a two-run home run to guide the Mountain Lions over the Trojans.

Madison Hiu, Mia Buranamonti and Taylor DeGuzman each went 2-for-4 for Sierra Vista.

Arianna Sandoval had a single for Pahrump’s lone hit.

Bishop Gorman 11, Desert Oasis 7 — At Gorman, Ashley Witucki went 4-for-4, and the Gaels used a six-run second inning to defeat the Diamondbacks.

Morgan Blanner was 3-for-4 with two RBIs, and Hannah Gondini went 2-for-4 with a double for Gorman.

Desert Oasis’ Meagan McInerney had two hits, including a home run, and Meagan Anders and Holly Severance each doubled and singled for the Diamondbacks.

Centennial 21, Arbor View 9 — At Arbor View, Lina Barrera went 2-for-4 with a double, a home run and six RBIs, and Angel Love was 3-for-5 with two RBIs and three runs as the Bulldogs slugged their way past the Aggies.

Stephanie Day was 3-for-6 with a double, and Brianna Benoit went 3-for-5 with a double for Centennial.

Hannah Jones, Skylar Ball and Makenzie Ball each added a double for the Bulldogs.

Arbor View’s Terren Vinson went 3-for-3 with an inside-the-park home run and a double, and Adriana Thomason hit a double and scored three runs for the Aggies.

Western 12, Cheyenne 2 — At Western, Alexis Moeaki went 3-for-3 with a home run, two RBIs and three runs to help the Warriors to the six-inning win over the Desert Shields.

Mireya Villela was 3-for-5 with a run and an RBI, and Kiana Aguirre went 2-for-4 with two runs for Western.

Makalita Moeaki threw a five-hitter to get the win. She struck out 12 with four walks.

Madelynn Kennedy went 2-for-2 for Cheyenne, and Kylie Clark was 2-for-3 with a double for the Desert Shields.

Durango 15, Bonanza 0 — At Bonanza, Trinity Valentine and Madisyn Conriquez combined on a three-hitter as the Trailblazers routed the Bengals in five innings.

Valentine was 3-for-4 with two doubles and six RBIs, and Conriquez went 2-for-4 for Durango. Mykayla Cutone and Claudina Luna each finished 2-for-3 for the Trailblazers.

Emmalee Glover was 2-for-2 to lead Bonanza.

Mojave 19, Clark 3 — At Clark, Jesika Smith pitched a three-hitter, and the Rattlers scored 14 first-inning runs en route to the five-inning win.

Ariel Wilson went 3-for-4 with an RBI, and teammate Essence McRae was 3-for-5 for Mojave.

Anastasia Evans finished 2-for-4 with two RBIs, and Natalie Paredes supplied a three-run double for the Rattlers.

Nathalie Hernandez was 2-for-4 to pace Clark.

Laughlin 20, Sandy Valley 10 — At Laughlin, Brittany Shelper went 2-for-2 with a triple and four RBIs ,and Jalynn Quibell added a home run as the Cougars defeated the Sidewinders in six innings.

Emilee Shilts supplied a double for Laughlin, which scored 16 runs in the final three innings of the game.

Sandy Valley’s Esmerelda Solano-Sanchez went 4-for-4 with a double, triple, and an RBI, and Sky Cochran was 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBIs for the Sidewinders.

Lake Mead 28, Calvary Chapel 3 — At Tuscany Park, Allee Butz was 3-for-3 with a double, two triples and five RBIs to help the Eagles to the five-inning win over the Lions.

Josey White was 2-for-2 with a double, four runs and four RBIs for Lake Mead, and teammate Jacea Tillman was 2-for-5 with four runs and four RBIs.

Lake Mead had 11 hits and took advantage of 15 walks and nine Calvary Chapel errors.

Pahranagat Valley 16, Mountain View 2 — At Alamo, Kaitlin Higbee went 2-for-3 with three RBIs to help the Panthers rout the Saints in five innings.

Emily Hansen went 2-for-3 with two RBIs for Pahranagat Valley.

Valerie Gonzalez went 3-for-3 with an RBI, and Holly Kessler was 2-for-3 with an RBI for Mountain View.
