SOFTBALL: Sam Pochop throws no-hitter for Rancho in California

Sam Pochop threw a no-hitter with eight strikeouts Saturday to lead Rancho’s softball team to an 8-0 win over Taft (California) at the Washington Union Invitational in Fresno, California.

The win gave the Rams the bronze bracket championship.

MacKenzie Perry went 2-for-3 with a homer, double and two RBIs for Rancho, and Gianna Carosone homered.

Foothill 13, Basic 9 — At Foothill, the Falcons scored five runs in the sixth inning to overcome an 8-1 deficit and topple the Wolves.

Kylie Becker had a homer, triple, three runs and two RBIs to lead the Falcons, and Haleigh Olive doubled and had three RBIs.

Caitlyn Stevenson also homered for Foothill, and teammate Katelyn Enzweiler doubled.

Shelby Basso, Izabelle Morales, Mikayla Berg and Bailey Cunanan all doubled for Basic.

Las Vegas 15, Silverado 2 — At Silverado, Skylar Gorrell threw a complete game, hit a home run, a double and knocked in four runs to power the Wildcats over the Skyhawks in five innings.

Sabrina Saldate drove in four runs for the Wildcats.

Dalyse Whiteside was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs for Silverado.

Valley 22, Canyon Springs 18 — At Valley, Gabriella Morales went 3-for-5 with two triples, four RBIs and four runs to lead the Vikings in a slugfest win over the Pioneers.

Heather Robinson went 3-for-5 with a triple, two RBIs and a run for the Vikings.

Canyon Springs’ Crystal Goodwin scored three runs.

Pahranagat Valley 10, Carpinteria (Calif.) 1 — At Carpinteria, California, the Panthers defeated the Warriors.

Round Mountain at Virginia City — At Virginia City, both games of the scheduled doubleheader were postponed due to weather.
