SOFTBALL: Pochop’s arm, bat lead Rancho by Green Valley

Samantha Pochop threw a two-hitter with 13 strikeouts to lead Rancho’s softball team to a 6-1 home win over Green Valley on Monday.

Pochop also went 3-for-4 with a RBI for the Rams.

Lily Gutierrez went 3-for-3 with a double for Rancho, and Sammi Llamas and Jazmin Gonzalez each added two RBIs for Rams.

Coronado 14, Basic 11 — At Coronado, Tatum Spangler went 2-for-4 with a triple, a home run and four RBIs as the Cougars defeated the Wolves.

Brooke Younie was 3-for-4 with a triple and three RBIs, and teammate Jaiden Johnson went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run and four RBIs total for Coronado. Marissa Kopp was 2-for-3 with three runs scored for the Cougars.

Mikayla Berg went 4-for-5 with a double, three RBIs and three runs to lead Basic. Lexie Edmunds was 3-for-5 with a triple for the Wolves.

Western 21, Del Sol 7 — At Del Sol, Jenessa Dunton was 3-for-5 with a home run and five RBIs, and the Warrriors scored 11 runs in the top of the sixth to pull away from the Dragons.

Ashley Rodriguez also homered and Ellyson Reynada and Alexis Moeaki each added three hits, including a double, for Western.

Aisha Lund was 3-for-3 with a double for Del Sol.

Boulder City 11, Sunrise Mountain 2 — At Sunrise Mountain, Jerra Hinson and Bailey Bennett-Jordan each had a triple and four RBIs to lead the Eagles past the Miners..

Charlene Masterson tossed a five-hitter with 12 strikeouts for Boulder City.

Zoey Ruiz had a two-run triple for Sunrise Mountain.

Foothill 14, Silverado 3 — At Foothill, Jazmine Dukes had a double and a two-run home run to lead the Falcons past the Skyhawks in five innings.

Daryan Meade and Sarah Maddox each had a double and three RBIs for Foothill, and teammate Kylie Becker had two doubles.

Alexa Ostolaza doubled for Silverado.

Arbor View 15, Tech 0 — At Arbor View, Cierra Mikaelsen went 3-for-4 with two doubles and five RBIs, and the Aggies scored 10 runs in the bottom of the first and rolled to the five-inning win.

Taylor Whalen was 4-for-4 with a double and an RBI, and Lileya Kebos went 3-for-3 with a triple and four RBIs for Arbor View, which had 26 hits.

Terren Vinson, Alexis Presser, Kellie Anderson, Bryce Henricksen and Taylor Thomas each added three hits for the Aggies.

Thomas threw a two-hitter with six strikeouts and one walk to get the win.

Las Vegas 14, Valley 4 — At Las Vegas, Samantha Taylor went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs as the Wildcats rolled past the Vikings in five innings.

Taylor also picked up the win, tossing a five-hitter and striking out eight.

Skyler Gorrell went 3-for-4 with four RBIs, and Melina Fabian was 1-for-2 with two RBIs and two stolen bases for the Wildcats.

Liberty 14, Eldorado 0 — At Eldorado, McKenna Hefley was 3-for-3 with a double and a three-run homer to help the Patriots to the five-inning win over the Sundevils.

Morgan LaNeve went 4-for-4 with two RBIs for Liberty.

Breanna Alvarez spun a one-hitter with four strikeouts and one walk to get the win.
