SOFTBALL: Grizzlies’ Madison Hood tosses five-inning perfect game against Clark

Madison Hood tossed a five-inning perfect game in her first start in the circle this season Thursday to lead Spring Valley’s softball team to a 14-0 home win over Clark.

Hood struck out 11 of Clark’s 15 batters. She also went 2-for-2 with two RBIs.

Stephanie Huff was 3-for-3 with two doubles, and Madison Macove was 3-for-3 for the Grizzlies. Teegan Teel was 2-for-2 with three runs, and Marlena Adras went 2-for-3 for Spring Valley, which got a home run from Michaela Hood.

Centennial 2, Legacy 0 — At Centennial, Hannah Jones spun a three-hitter with seven strikeouts as the Bulldogs blanked the Longhorns.

Jones had an RBI single in the fourth inning to break a scoreless tie, and Brianna Benoit followed with an RBI double to give Centennial a 2-0 lead.

Amanda Sink spun a two-hitter and struck out 10 for Legacy.

Shadow Ridge 6, Desert Oasis 2 — At Desert Oasis, Caitlyn Covington was 4-for-4 with two doubles, two runs and three RBIs as the Mustangs topped the Diamondbacks.

Raelyn Kendall was 2-for-3, and Alisha Schultz went 2-for-4 with an RBI for Shadow Ridge.

Mia Voges tossed a five-hitter and struck out five for the Mustangs.

Izriah Hodson was 2-for-4 for Desert Oasis.

Tech 11, Virgin Valley 0 — At Tech, Gizele Cascos tossed a five-inning no-hitter as the Roadrunners downed the Bulldogs.

Cascos walked one and struck out nine.

Lisette Sanchez was 2-for-3 for Tech.

Bishop Gorman 15, Durango 12 — At Durango, Morgan Blanner’s RBI single in the fourth inning broke an 11-11 tie as the Gaels topped the Trailblazers in a game shortened to six innings by rain.

Megan Coyle was 3-for-4 with a solo home run for Gorman, which scored seven runs in the third to tie the game at 11. Hannah Gondini was 3-for-5 for the Gaels. Darian Pancirov allowed a run on one hit in four innings of relief to get the win.

Durango’s Keely Thompson had a grand slam in a seven-run second inning. Lexi Geraldo added a three-run homer in the first inning for the Trailblazers.

Palo Verde 10, Arbor View 0 — At Palo Verde, Cara Beatty was 4-for-4 with a home run, a triple and three RBIs as the Panthers topped the Aggies in six innings.

Camden Zahn and Allyson Snelling each went 2-for-3 with a home run, and Makall Whetten and Jessica Nimmo each added two hits and two RBIs for Palo Verde.

Taylor Askland tossed a three-hitter for Palo Verde.

Sierra Vista 16, Western 1 — At Western, Kalei Watkins went 2-for-3 with two home runs, three runs and three RBIs as the Mountain Lions routed the Warriors in five innings.

Watkins and Harmony Dominguez combined on a three-hitter, with Watkins striking out eight in four innings.

Mia Buranamonti was 1-for-3 with a three-run home run, and Taylor DeGuzman went 1-for-2 with four runs for Sierra Vista.

Alexis Moeaki was 2-for-2 with a double, and Makalita Moeaki homered for Western.

Cimarron-Memorial 14, Bonanza 1 — At Cimarron, Diona Whitley went 2-for-3 with a home run, a double and four RBIs to lead the Spartans by the Bengals in five innings.

Shelby Telford tripled and doubled for Cimarron.

Kaeley Roldan tossed a four-hitter for Cimarron.

Indian Springs 11-16, Round Mountain 1-7 — At Round Mountain, the Thunderbirds swept the Knights.

Faith Lutheran at Mojave — At Mojave, the Crusaders held a 4-1 lead over the Rattlers in the bottom of the fifth inning when the game was halted because of rain.

The teams will resume play Tuesday.

Pahrump Valley at Cheyenne — At Cheyenne, the Trojans held a 10-7 lead over the Desert Shields in the top of the fifth inning when the game was halted because of rain.
