SOFTBALL: Coyle, Gaels rally to stun Shadow Ridge

Megan Coyle went 3-for-4 with a triple and two RBIs as Bishop Gorman’s softball team stunned host Shadow Ridge, 7-3 on Tuesday.

Morgan Blanner was 2-for-2 for the Gaels, who trailed 3-0 after five innings but scored three runs in the sixth to tie the game and four more in the seventh.

Darian Pancirov spun a seven-hitter for Gorman.

Caitlyn Covington was 3-for-4 for the Mustangs, who fell out of a tie for first place in the Division I Sunset League.

Sierra Vista 6, Western 3 — At Sierra Vista, Kalei Watkins drove in two runs with a double, and Brendee Ford had an RBI single as the Mountain Lions parlayed two hits into a victory over the Warriors.

Winning pitcher Harmony Dominguez threw four innings of scoreless relief with five strikeouts for Sierra Vista, which took advantage of six errors by Western.

Makalita Moeaki went 3-for-3 for Western.

Arbor View 6, Desert Oasis 1 — At Desert Oasis, Taylor Whalen went 2-for-3 with two RBIs, and the Aggies scored five runs in the first inning on their way to a win over the Diamondbacks.

Brittany Henricksen was 3-for-3 with a double for Arbor View.

Maggie Shepard went 2-for-3 for Desert Oasis.

Palo Verde 5, Legacy 1 — At Palo Verde, Kali Tomlinson went 2-for-3 with a home run and a double to help the Panthers defeat the Longhorns.

Allyson Snelling was 2-for-3 with a triple and a double for Palo Verde.

Alyssa Spencer was 2-for-3 with a double, and teammate Haley Pedersen was 2-for-3 for Legacy.

Cimarron-Memorial 7, Durango 2 — At Cimarron, Shelby Telford went 3-for-3 with two runs, and Juliana Reyes went 3-for-4 with a run as the Spartans downed the Trailblazers.

Kaeley Roldan was 1-for-2 with a triple, two runs and two RBIs, and Tiarra Del Rosario was 2-for-3 for Cimarron.

Keely Thompson was 3-for-3 with a double, and Brooke Alves went 2-for-4 with two doubles and an RBI.

Spring Valley 15, Clark 0 — At Clark, Mariah Ward tossed a five-inning no-hitter and hit a two-run home run to power the Grizzlies past the Chargers.

Madison Macove was 3-for-4 with two doubles and three RBIs for Spring Valley, which jumped out to a 7-0 lead after one inning. Michaela Hood doubled twice, and Camryn Vereen had a two-run single for Spring Valley.

Centennial 12, Bonanza 2 — At Centennial, Christina Cerrone went 3-for-3 with a triple and two RBIs as the Bulldogs downed the Bengals in five innings.

Lina Barrera was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs, and Skyler Ball went 2-for-3 for Centennial, which trailed 2-1 entering the bottom of the fourth inning but scored three runs in the fourth and eight in the fifth.

Hannah Jones tossed a three-hitter and struck out five for Centennial.

Pahrump Valley 14, Cheyenne 0 — At Pahrump, Amaya Mendoza, Krista Toomer and Jackie Stobbe combined on a five-inning one-hitter as the Trojans blanked the Desert Shields.

Lauren Koenig tripled and singled for Pahrump, which scored nine runs in the third inning.

Faith Lutheran 15, Mojave 2 — At Faith Lutheran, Claire Peck was 2-for-3 with two doubles, two runs and three RBIs to help the Crusaders top the Rattlers in five innings.

Ryleigh Gilchrist went 3-for-4 with three runs and two RBIs, and Samantha Jack went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs for Faith Lutheran. Ellie Fried was 2-for-2 with four runs and an RBI, and winning pitcher Haley Jack went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI for Faith Lutheran.

Jessica Ortiz was 1-for-2 with a run for Mojave.

Virgin Valley 9, Pahranagat Valley 8 — At Alamo, Tylee Robison went 2-for-3 with two RBIs as the Bulldogs rallied to nip the Panthers.

Janella Fiso was 3-for-5 for Virgin Valley, which scored three runs in the top of the seventh after trailing 7-6.

Madalyn Taylor and Madison Harris each hit a triple for Pahranagat Valley.

Lake Mead 16, Laughlin 5 — At Tuscany Park, Lauryn Freund spun a three-hitter as the Eagles routed the Cougars in five innings.

Josey White went 1-for-3 with a double, three runs and three RBIs, and Jacea Tillman was 1-for-3 with a double, three runs and two RBIs for Lake Mead, which had just four hits, but took advantage of 12 walks and eight Laughlin errors.

Lori Morgan was 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI for Laughlin.

Indian Springs 19-25, Tonopah 1-7 — At Indian Springs, Sadie Heath had four hits in the nightcap as the Thunderbirds swept a pair of five-inning games from the Muckers.

In the opener, Hannah Thormahlen tossed a three-hitter and struck out six and also hit a homer for Indian Springs. Avery Aspen went 3-for-4 with two doubles, a homer and six RBIs, and Sadie Heath had three hits, including a triple.

Evangelia Tapia had two hits and three RBIs, and Halle Jackson drove in four runs in the second game for Indian Springs.

Tonopah’s Lexy Bayne had two hits and two RBIs in the second game.

Sandy Valley 25, Mountain View 4 — At Mountain View, winning pitcher Jacinda Fansher tripled and singled as the Sidewinders routed the Saints in five innings.

Miah Fields-Gibbens had two hits for Mountain View.
