VOLLEYBALL: Smith, Mustangs rally to top Gaels

Ashley Smith had 15 kills and two blocks Monday to help Shadow Ridge’s girls volleyball team rally for a 16-25, 25-15, 25-20, 25-16 victory over visiting Bishop Gorman.

Easton Clements added five kills and seven blocks, and Eadara Files had 30 assists for Shadow Ridge. Caitlin Pascal added 16 digs for the Mustangs.

Victoria Ewalefo had 12 kills and three blocks, and Makenzi Abelman had 22 assists for Gorman. Mya Ellis had 11 digs, and teammate Ashley Brennan added five blocks for the Gaels.

Rancho 3, Basic 2 — At Rancho, Karime Raygoza had 14 kills, 12 digs and two blocks, and Kayla Coles added 12 kills, 16 digs and two blocks as the Rams outlasted the Wolves, 23-25, 25-12, 25-11, 23-25, 15-4.

Serenity Sivongsa had 32 assists and two aces, and Danielle Carino added eight kills and 30 digs for Rancho.

Kim Austin paced Basic with seven kills, three blocks and 40 digs. Kali Weires added eight kills and nine digs, and Christina Kelley had five kills, 16 assists, three blocks and 10 digs for the Wolves.

Virgin Valley 3, Chaparral 1 — At Chaparral, Bernice Fiso had 14 kills to lead the Bulldogs past the Cowboys, 25-23, 25-19, 13-25, 25-21.

Emma Barnum added 12 kills, and Janella Fiso supplied 26 assists and four aces for Virgin Valley.

Abigail Delgado had four kills and six aces, and Monique Long added five aces and 16 digs for Chaparral, which got 13 assists and two aces from Kayla Enderle.

Durango 3, Clark 2 — At Durango, Jordan Myers had eight kills and 11 digs to help the Trailblazers rally for a 17-25, 22-25, 25-17, 25-17, 15-12 victory over the Chargers.

Danielle Smith added four kills and 18 digs, and teammate Lindsey Horne had 20 assists for Durango.

Foothill 3, Eldorado 0 — At Foothill, Rebecca Hill had six kills, six aces and three digs to lead the Falcons to a 25-8, 25-21, 25-11 win over the Sundevils.

Christina Beaver had 19 assists, and Olivia Stet had seven kills, two aces and four digs for Foothill, which got five kills from Tapita Poutasi-Tapafua.

Tori Stark had five kills and six blocks, and Abigail Olsen added 14 assists for Eldorado.

Coronado 3, Green Valley 0 — At Green Valley, Nikki Johnson had eight kills and five aces to lead the Cougars to a 25-16, 25-11, 25-17 sweep of the Gators.

Cali Thompson had 33 assists, four digs and four blocks, and Navi Lee added nine kills for Coronado, which got six kills from Carolyn Andrulis.

Julia Carson and Jamaica Lewis each had three kills for Green Valley.

Palo Verde 3, Legacy 0 — At Palo Verde, Makenzie Paulk had 27 assists and five digs to lead the Panthers to a 25-18, 25-12, 25-14 sweep of the Longhorns.

Kendall Cheval had nine kills, and Aaliah Largusa added seven kills for the Panthers.

Saipeti Fuiava had 12 assists and four digs, and Ashly Goor added three kills and eight digs for Legacy. Myah Maxwell had three kills for the Longhorns.

Moapa Valley 3, Del Sol 0 — At Overton, Cheyenne Leavitt had 11 kills to help the Pirates to a 25-14, 25-14, 25-18 win over the Dragons.

Madison Bush added 10 assists and five aces, and Marissa Perez had 20 digs for Moapa Valley.

Tech 3, Sunrise Mountain 0 — At Sunrise Mountain, Madison White had seven kills and four aces to lead the Roadrunners past the Miners, 25-18, 25-13, 25-17.

Samantha Backman had two kills, 10 assists, three aces and six digs, and Clarissa Szluha had four kills and nine assists for Tech. Jasmine Ramos had two aces and six digs, and Katherine Hernandez had five kills and four digs for the Roadrunners.

Ayla Diaz had 10 kills to lead the Miners. Vaness Amaya added 14 assists, and Tre’Licia Quinn had four kills for Sunrise Mountain.

Boulder City 3, Desert Pines 0 — At Desert Pines, Kinsey Smyth had three kills and seven aces as the Eagles swept the Jaguars 25-7, 25-16, 25-12.

Jaden Wood had eight kills, and Alyssa Ybarra had six aces for Boulder City, which got five kills from Emma Jeppsen.

Liberty Baptist 3, Adelson School 2 — At Adelson School, the Eagles outlasted the Lions, 25-15, 23-25, 25-18, 22-25, 16-14.
