VOLLEYBALL: Lions earn three wins in The Meadows Invitational

Calvary Chapel’s girls volleyball team opened its season Friday with three wins in The Meadows Invitational. The Lions won in three sets against Elko and swept both Mountain View and The Meadows.

Calvary Chapel 2, Elko 1 — At The Meadows Invitational, Alexis Harris recorded 12 digs and four kills to lead the Lions to a 25-15, 17-25, 15-13 win over the Indians.

Alexis Davis added 12 digs, and Kayla Johnson helped with eight assists for the Lions, who got four kills from Malia Lee.

Calvary Chapel 2, Mountain View 0 — At The Meadows Invitational, Harris put down six kills and served two aces to lead the Lions over Mountain View, 25-21, 25-9

Lee added five kills, and Johnson recorded seven assists for Calvary Chapel. Marissa Tiemann also notched four kills for the Lions.

Calvary Chapel 2, The Meadows 0 — At The Meadows Invitational, Harris led with four kills as Calvary Chapel swept the Mustangs, 25-22, 25-14

Davilyn Yates had three kills, and Lee added two blocks for the Lions.

Faith Lutheran 2, Cimarron-Memorial 0 — At Foothill, Morgan Hill led the Crusaders with six kills and four aces in a 25-10, 25-12 sweep over the Spartans in the Las Vegas Invitational.

Haley Vinson added another six kills for Faith Lutheran.

Faith Lutheran 2, Cedar (Utah) 0 — At Foothill, Cayla Nikodemus and Hill each recorded five kills to lift the Crusaders over Cedar, 25-20, 25-9 in the Las Vegas Invitational.

Taft (Calif.) 2, Faith Lutheran 0 — At Foothill, Nikodemus put down 10 kills for the Crusaders, but Taft swept Faith Lutheran 25-20, 25-23 in the Las Vegas Invitational.

Yerington 2, Bishop Gorman 1 — At Galena, the Lions outlasted the Gaels, 25-21, 13-25, 15-8 in the Galena Tournament.

Vashti Cunningham had 19 kills, and Victoria Ewalefo added 11 kills and four blocks for Gorman, which got 21 assists from Makenzi Abelman.

Bishop Gorman 2, Paradise (Calif.) 0 — At Galena, the Gaels rolled to a 25-6, 25-7 win over Paradise in the Galena Tournament.

Bishop Gorman 2, Nevada Union (Calif.) 0 — At Galena, Cunningham had 12 kills and two blocks as the Gaels topped Nevada Union, 25-22, 25-21 in the Galena Tournament.

Mya Ellis and Hailey Kraft each had eight digs for Gorman.
