3A VOLLEYBALL: Virgin Valley sweeps Mojave in Southern Region quarterfinal

Bernice Fiso had 18 kills, eight digs and three aces Monday to lead third-seeded Virgin Valley to a 25-18, 25-16, 25-11 win over No. 2 Mojave in a Class 3A Southern Region girls volleyball quarterfinal in Overton.

Calee Clem added 34 assists and four aces for the Bulldogs, and teammate Emma Barnum had 11 kills, seven digs and three aces. Jessica Barnum added seven kills for Virgin Valley (21-13), which will meet Moapa Valley (24-10) in a semifinal at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Boulder City High.

Sua Estrada led Mojave, which was the Sunset League’s No. 2 seed, with 10 assists. Savannah Blanchard-Davis had 12 digs, and Darria Gray had four kills for the Rattlers (12-17).

Moapa Valley 3, Western 0 — At Overton, Eden Whitmore had eight kills, and Shelbi Walker added eight aces as the Pirates swept the Warriors, 25-7, 25-11, 25-12 in a Southern Region quarterfinal.

Kessa Evans had six aces, and JaLea Blasingame notched five kills for Moapa Valley, which got five aces from Madison Bush.

Western fell to 4-10.

Boulder City 3, Cheyenne 0 — At Pahrump, Maggie Roe had 17 kills, 17 digs, seven aces and two blocks to carry the Eagles over the Desert Shields, 25-14, 25-15, 25-14, in a Southern Region quarterfinal.

Alea Lehr had 36 assists, 10 digs and three aces, and Kenadee Bailey added 10 digs and eight kills for Boulder City, which will play Pahrump Valley (23-13) in a semifinal at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Boulder City High.

Lauryn Carlton had two aces and five digs, and Leerah Hunt added two kills and an ace for Cheyenne (16-18).

Pahrump Valley 3, Chaparral 0 — At Pahrump, Alexis Trieb had nine kills, and Jill Smith dished out 20 assists to lead the Trojans to a 25-8, 25-16, 25-18 win over the Cowboys in a Southern Region quarterfinal.

Bethany Calvert and Isabelle Meza each added seven kills, and Jackie Stobbe notched four aces for Pahrump.

Chaparral fell to 7-11.
