GIRLS TRACK: Trio leads Coronado to victory

Megan Denter, Logan Linehan and Talia Sapp each won two individual events Tuesday to help Coronado’s girls track team to a 98-48 win at Foothill.

Denter won the 1,600-meter run in 5 minutes, 40.22 seconds and the 3,200 in 12:55.27.

Linehan won the 300 hurdles in 47.17 and cleared 4 feet, 10 inches to win the high jump.

Sapp was first in the triple jump with a distance of 33-7 and the long jump with a distance of 16-0.

Foothill’s Hannah Atkerson swept the throws, winning the discus with an effort of 92-7 and the shot put with an effort of 28-8.

Silverado wins three-team meet

At Basic, Ja’Neal Coleman won the long jump and triple jump to help Silverado defeat Valley and Basic.

Coleman had an effort of 13-10 in the long jump and 30-10 in the triple jump for the Skyhawks, who had 66 points. Basic was second with 58, followed by Valley with 55.

Basic’s Raquel Chavez-Velazquez won the 800 in 2:30.3 and the 3,200 in 12:32.3.

Valley’s Esmerelda Tenorio won the 200 in 26.7 and the 400 in 59.1, and teammate Kayla Steiner took the 100 hurdles in 16.8 and the 300 hurdles in 50.7.

Bonanza wins tri-meet

At Durango, Arkeisha Sankey won two individual events and was second in another to lead Bonanza to victory in a three-team meet.

Sankey won the high jump (4-6) and long jump (15-9) and was second in the triple jump.

Esmerelda Hinojos won the 1,600 (6:13.6) and 3,200 (13:08.0) for the Bengals, who had 85½ points. Durango (44½) was second and Calvary Chapel (18) third.

Calvary Chapel’s Shelbi Byrnes won the 100 hurdles (15.4) and 800 (2:29.9).
