GIRLS TRACK: Nelson wins three events, Bengals win triangular meet

Sianna Nelson won three events Tuesday to help Bonanza’s girls track team win a home triangular meet.

Nelson finished first in the long jump with an effort of 16 feet, ½-inch and the triple jump with an effort of 32-7. She also won the 300-meter hurdles in 53.2 seconds.

The Bengals finished with 91 points. Legacy had 88 points, and Pahranagat Valley scored one.

Bonanza’s Esmerelda Hinojos won the the 1,600 in 6:10.6 and the 3,200 in 13:22.9.

Legacy’s Sharita Green won the shot put (29-10) and discus (87-11).

Basic tops Eldorado

At Eldorado, Tristan Radley, Megan McCarthy and Cassady Weast each won two individual events to lead Basic to a 97-42 win over the Sundevils.

Radley was first in the 100 (13.3) and 200 (29.3). McCarthy won the 1,600 (6:21.7) and 3,200 (14:08.7), and Weast won the high jump (4-6) and 100 hurdles (19.5).

Eldorado’s Stefani Freeman won the long jump (15-7½) and triple jump (31-4), and teammate Katherine Hernandez was first in the shot put (34-4) and discus (110-2).

Shadow Ridge defeats Sierra Vista

At Sierra Vista, Ashley Pierce swept the throwing events to help Shadow Ridge to a 70½-53½ win over the Mountain Lions.

Pierce won the shot put with a mark of 30-10 and the discus with a throw of 115-5.

Sierra Vista’s Sydney Land won the 200 in 26.5 and the 400 in 1:02.8.

Aggies run past Durango

At Arbor View, Aelicia Taylor, Jocelyn Jordan and Madison Christian each won two events to help the Aggies to a 130-16 win over Durango.

Taylor won the 100 in 12.7 and the 200 in 27.9. Christian threw 85-1 to win the discus and took the shot put with an effort of 31-7½. Jordan was first in the triple jump (37-3) and long jump (16-5).

Durango’s Yasmine Thigpen won the 100 hurdles in 15.5 and the 300 hurdles in 48.4.

Gators top Valley

At Green Valley, Kayla Anderson won the 400 in 1:05.8 and was a part of the winning 800 and 1,600 relay teams to help the Gators to a 79-67 win over Valley.

The Vikings’ Jayla Stevenson-Collins won the discus with a throw of 99-8 and the shot put with an effort of 31-5.
