GIRLS TRACK: Las Vegas cruises by Pioneers in dual meet

Teconna Dyer, Cjenna Heiden, Teleda Williams and Ariana Vega-Miranda each won two individual events Tuesday to help the Las Vegas girls track team to a 90-41 win at Canyon Springs on Tuesday.

Dyer won the 300-meter hurdles in 50.6 seconds and cleared 4 feet, 8 inches to win the high jump. Heiden won the discus (100-6) and shot put (33-2). Williams took the 100 in 12.4 and the 200 in 25.2. Vega-Miranda claimed the 1,600 in 6:14 and the 3,200 in 14:43.1.

Iyani Hayden won three events, and Demetris Lewis won twice for the Pioneers.

Hayden took the 100 hurdles in 15.9, the long jump with an effort of 16-4 and the triple jump with an effort of 35-8. Lewis won the 400 in 1:02 and the 800 in 2:51.6.

Sunrise Mountain wins tri-meet

At Western, Nina Carpenter won three events to lead Sunrise Mountain to victory in a three-team meet.

Carpenter won the high jump (4-8), long jump (15-8) and triple jump (32-2) for the Miners, who finished with 101 points.

Ayla Diaz won the 100 hurdles (17.1) and 300 hurdles (51.0), and teammate Isis Bryant was first in the shot put (33-5½) and discus (91-3) for Sunrise Mountain.

Ana Edith San Juan Agustin won the 800 (2:56.3) and 1,600 (6:28.1) for Western, which was second with 27 points. Chaparral had 26.

Liberty defeats Silverado

At Silverado, Gabby Carson, Skyler Free, Litia Ortquist and Amanda Pemberton each won two individual events to help Liberty to a 90-50 win over the Skyhawks.

Carson won the long jump with an effort of 15-10 and the pole vault by clearing 11-6. Free took the 800 in 2:32.4 and the 1,600 in 5:27.9. Ortquist won the shot put (50-1) and discus (116-2), and Pemberton won the 100 hurdles in 16.7 and the 300 hurdles in 52.6.

Silverado’s Mikayla Kelley won the triple jump with an effort of 37-5 and won the 100 in 12.6.
