GIRLS SOCCER: Jones scores twice, lifts Gorman by Palo Verde

Arlie Jones scored two second-half goals, including the winner off of Taylor Cox's corner kick with six minutes left in the match Thursday to help Bishop Gorman's girls soccer team to a 2-1 win over visiting Palo Verde.

Lilly Thompson scored in the first half for the Panthers.

Coronado 2, Green Valley 0 — At Coronado, Taylor Kornieck scored two goals as the Cougars shut out the Gators.

Shannon Heenan had three saves to record the shutout.

Basic 1, Rancho 0 — At Basic, Bryanna Johnson made eight saves to preserve the shutout as the Wolves edged the Rams.

Darbi Parise scored Basic's goal midway through the second half on an assist from Sydnie Hopkins.

Virgin Valley 2, Boulder City 0 — At Boulder City, Madison Cheney scored twice to lead the Bulldogs to victory over the Eagles.

Spencer Green made four saves to earn the shutout.

Tech 0, Desert Pines 0 — At Desert Pines, the Roadrunners and Jaguars played to a scoreless tie.

Tech's Estephania Perez had 12 saves, and Desert Pines' Maribel Mejia made eight saves as each recorded a shutout.

Sunrise Mountain 7, Chaparral 0 — At Chaparral, Yovana Alvidez and Leslie Arellanos each scored twice to lead the Miners by the Cowboys.

Brisa Pena-Martinez, Claudia Saucedo and Miriam Galvez each added a goal for Sunrise Mountain.

Christina Lark was credited with the shutout.

Foothill 7, Eldorado 0 — At Eldorado, Katherine Ballou and Myriah Epino each scored two goals as the Falcons routed the Sundevils.

Elizabeth Richter, Talia Sclafani and Rae Burrell also scored for Foothill.

Darrien Sclafani and Natalie Williams combined on the shutout.

Shadow Ridge 9, Durango 1 — At Durango, Jessica Beck and Samantha Villa each scored twice to lead the Mustangs in a rout of the Trailblazers.

Brianna Haworth added a goal and two assists, and Danika Shupe, Stephanie Nava, Cheyenne Banks and Rebekah Randall each added a goal for Shadow Ridge.

Alyssa Nunez scored for Durango.
