LIBERTY INVITATIONAL: Roquemore helps Foothill join Patriots at 3-0 in tourney

Katey Roquemore scored 21 of her 24 points in the final three quarters to help Foothill's girls basketball team overcome an early 13-4 deficit and pull away for a 57-38 win over Faith Lutheran in the Liberty Invitational on Friday at Liberty.

Roquemore hit five 3-pointers for the Falcons, who used a 30-1 run during parts of the second and third quarters to turn a 19-12 deficit into a 42-20 lead late in the third quarter.

Trinity Betoney added 17 points, and Rae Burrell scored 14 for Foothill, which went 3-0 in the tournament on Friday. Pool play continues Saturday with the top two teams advancing to the championship. Liberty was the only other team to go 3-0 on Friday.

Sam Caruth had 16 points to lead the Crusaders.

Foothill 54, Valley 35 — Betoney had 18 of her 20 points in the first three quarters as the Falcons downed the Vikings.

Roquemore added 18 points for Foothill.

Eimainei Thomas-Palmer paced Valley with 18 points.

Foothill 56, Las Vegas 33 — Betoney had 18 points, and the Falcons built an early 27-10 lead and rolled by the Wildcats.

Burrell added 17 points for Foothill.

Bianca Matlock paced Las Vegas with 17 points.

Liberty 65, Palo Verde 31 — Taylor Turney scored 10 of her 18 points in the second quarter as the Patriots pulled away from the Panthers.

Nancy Caballero added 13 points, and Kaily Kaimikaua added 10 points for Liberty, which led 37-17 at the half.

Paulina Silcox had 14 points, and teammate Brooklyn Cruz scored 12 for Palo Verde.

Liberty 58, Legacy 15 — Turney had 14 points, and the Patriots began the game on runs of 20-0 and 29-1 to rout the Longhorns.

Caballero added 13 points for Liberty.

C'Aree Stevenson had 11 points for Legacy.

Liberty 65, Rancho 22 — Turney scored 15 points, and the Patriots used a 27-4 run to start the game in a rout of the Rams.

Alexis Tomassi added 13 points, and Caballero scored 10 for Liberty.

Maureen Macato led Rancho with 11 points.

Legacy 61, Chaparral 52 — Stevenson had 14 points to lead the Longhorns by the Cowboys.

Rory Carter added 11 points for Legacy.

Marcia Hawkins had 15 points, and Sierra Shaw scored 13 for Chaparral, which got 10 points from Alexis Vanstory.

Las Vegas 47, Clark 31 — Briteny Buckley led a balanced attack with 11 points as the Wildcats defeated the Chargers.

Dyonne Peterson and Kiona Jolley each added 10 points for Las Vegas, which used a 16-4 second-quarter run to build a 29-18 halftime lead.

Shaylyn Thacker led Clark with 14 points.

Rancho 51, Palo Verde 42 — Tatianna Lee scored eight of her 14 points in the fourth quarter to help the Rams hold off the Panthers.

Macato added 13 points for Rancho.

Cruz led Palo Verde with 16 points.

Faith Lutheran 43, Clark 23 — Caruth scored all 14 of her points in the first half to lead the Crusaders by the Chargers.

Madison Bocobo added 10 points for Faith Lutheran.

Marieka Dent and Lailque Sharpe each had five points for Clark.

Faith Lutheran 55, Las Vegas 41 — Bocobo scored all 13 of her points in the second half to guide the Crusaders by the Wildcats.

Caruth had 19 points for Faith Lutheran.

Matlock led Las Vegas with 12 points.

Rancho 51, Legacy 34 — Macato had 14 points as the Rams downed the Longhorns.

Kyndal Ricks added 11 points, and Lee scored 10 for Rancho.

Stevenson had 14 points, and Dani Livingston scored 11 for Legacy.

Palo Verde 85, Chaparral 36 — Silcox poured in 26 points as the Panthers routed the Cowboys.

Cruz added 16 points, and Kailah Burton scored 10 for Palo Verde, which led 19-18 after one quarter.

Hawkins paced Chaparral with 10 points.

Valley 71, Clark 37 — Jezuel Pollins scored 16 points as the Vikings routed the Chargers.

Sandra Scroggins added 12 points for Valley, which led 37-28 at the half before pulling away.

Thacker led Clark with 13 points.
