GIRLS BASKETBALL: Turney’s free throw sends Falcons by Rams

Taylor Turney made 1 of 2 free throws with five seconds left Wednesday to help Foothill’s girls basketball team edge visiting Rancho, 53-52.

Turney, who scored 22 points, missed the first of the two free throws, but hit the second.

Mikayla Yeakel added 10 points for the Falcons, who led 45-35 entering the fourth quarter.

LaKissa Martin had 20 points to lead the Rams. Maureen Macato added 12 points, and Jada Wilson scored 10 for Rancho.

Eldorado 46, Basic 44 — At Basic, Deasia Walker scored 19 points as the Sundevils rallied past the Wolves.

Daria Lomasney had 12 points, and Cecilley Hall added 11 points for Eldorado, which trailed 29-23 entering the fourth quarter.

Dana Deloney scored 15 points, and Jayla Brown added 14 points to lead Basic.

Cimarron-Memorial 44, Desert Oasis 41 — At Cimarron, Zaquae Downton had 10 points and 15 rebounds as the Spartans held off the Diamondbacks.

Amoura Whitney scored 11 points, and teammate Tasia Moore supplied 12 rebounds for Cimarron.

Desert Oasis’ Mikala Kirby led all scorers with 19 points, but was held to just two points in the second half.

Silverado 54, Valley 32 — At Silverado, Deja Siaki scored 17 points to help the Skyhawks roll past the Vikings.

Monet Salazar scored nine points, and Ja’Neal Coleman supplied eight points for Silverado, which made 26 of 41 free throws.

Sydney Starks had eight points for Valley.

Liberty 70, Las Vegas 30 — At Liberty, Kealy Brown recorded 25 points, 10 steals and six rebounds, and Paris Strawther had 11 points and 11 rebounds as the Patriots stormed past the Wildcats.

Nancy Caballero supplied 10 points and 10 rebounds, and CeCe Quintino dished out 11 assists for Liberty, which led 27-9 after one quarter.

Adrina Collins led Las Vegas with 15 points.

Centennial 68, Bonanza 19 — At Bonanza, Justice Ethridge scored 21 points as the Bulldogs routed the Bengals.

Sarah Kruthaupt added 11 points for Centennial, which led 32-3 after one quarter and 53-10 at the half.

Alyssa Powers led Bonanza with 11 points.
