GIRLS BASKETBALL: Pierce’s layup gives Warriors win over Chargers

Capricia Pierce’s layup as time expired Friday lifted Western’s girls basketball team to a 49-48 win over visiting Clark.

Karlicia Stroughter’s free throw with 6.7 seconds left gave the Chargers a 48-47 lead before Pierce drove the length of the floor.

Pierce had 22 points, and Destiny Gonzalez scored 17 for the Warriors.

Stroughter had 21 points, and Bobbi Floyd scored 15 for Clark.

Spring Valley 66, Faith Lutheran 65 — At Spring Valley, Myra Tadytin hit the front end of a one-and-one with nine seconds left in overtime to help the Grizzlies secure the Sunset League title with a win over the Crusaders.

Kayla Harris had 26 points, eight rebounds and five assists, and Essence Booker added 17 points and seven assists for Spring Valley, which missed a wild heave at the regulation buzzer.

Haley Vinson had 26 points, and Kim Munro scored 13 for Faith Lutheran, which got 10 points from Madison Bocobo.

Bonanza 42, Pahrump Valley 38 — At Pahrump, Alyssa Powers had 20 points as the Bengals held off the Trojans.

Alyssa Murphy, Jill Smith and Shayla Dance each scored eight points for Pahrump, which led 33-31 after three quarters.

Shadow Ridge 55, Moapa Valley 33 — At Shadow Ridge, Aubree Nish had 14 points to lead the Mustangs over the Pirates.

Ciera DaPra added 13 points, and Amara King scored 10 for Shadow Ridge.

DaniElle Russo led Moapa Valley with 11 points.

Canyon Springs 61, Silverado 41 — At Silverado, Alexia Thrower had 22 points, and the Pioneers began the game on a 16-0 run on their way to a win over the Skyhawks.

Daijhan Cooks added 15 points, and Dre’una Edwards scored 13 for Canyon Springs.

Monet Salazar had 15 points for Silverado, and Deja Siaki scored 13 for the Skyhawks.

Palo Verde 60, Mojave 45 — At Palo Verde, Paulina Silcox scored 21 points to lead the Panthers past the Rattlers.

Alaysia Reed added 16 points, and Marcie Goldberg had 11 points and 14 rebounds for Palo Verde, which led 31-18 at halftime.

Keyara Lemon had 15 points, and teammate RayEna Rael scored 13 for Mojave.

Mater Dei (Calif.) 60, Bishop Gorman 49 — At Santa Ana, Calif., Katie Samuelson scored had 32 points to lead the Monarchs by the Gaels.

Jayda Adams added 10 points for Mater Dei, which led 22-8 after one quarter.

Madison Washington had 16 points and 12 rebounds, and Megan Jacobs added 11 points for Gorman.

Chaparral 56, Del Sol 30 — At Del Sol, Taij Criss-Felton led three double-figure scorers with 16 points as the Cowboys topped the Dragons.

Jade Hazelton had 14 points, and Marcia Hawkins scored 12 for Chaparral, which used a 24-1 run in the third quarter to take control.

Astrid Rodriguez led Del Sol with nine points.

Cimarron-Memorial 51, Sierra Vista 25 — At Sierra Vista, Niara Smith had 19 points to help the Spartans pull away from the Mountain Lions.

Shauntel Efferson added 17 points for Cimarron, which led 20-15 at the half.

Kelsey Jimenez led Sierra Vista with 11 points.

Sunrise Mountain 43, Las Vegas 37 — At Las Vegas, Nina Carpenter scored nine points to help the Miners edge the Wildcats.

Adrina Collins had 12 points for Las Vegas.

Needles 49, Lincoln County 46 — At Needles, Calif., Preslee Murch banked in a 3-pointer at the regulation buzzer to force overtime, and the Mustangs scored all eight of their points in overtime from the free-throw line to defeat the Lynx.

Brenna Chavez led Needles with 22 points, and Murch scored 15.

Savannah Harr led Lincoln County with 15 points.

Calvary Chapel 48, Lake Mead 42 — At Calvary Chapel, Marissa Tiemann, Malia Lee and Jenna Mace each scored 14 points to help the Lions hold off the Eagles.

Savannah Schmidt had 32 points for Lake Mead.

White Pine 44, Laughlin 28 — At Laughlin, Jaden Ernest scored seven points to lead the Bobcats past the Cougars.

Emily Bischoff and Britney Kingston each scored six for White Pine.

Teresa Chapa and Kayla Nelson each scored nine points to lead Laughlin.

Sandy Valley 48, Lund 43 — At Lund, Esmerelda Madrid and Lauren Cripe each had 12 points to lead the Sidewinders by the Mustangs.

Jacinda Fansher added 11 points for Sandy Valley, which led 24-10 at the half.

Pahranagat Valley 57, Round Mountain 45 — At Alamo, Kalli Hosier had 23 points to lead the Panthers by the Knights.
