GIRLS BASKETBALL: Criss-Felton, Cowboys top Pirates

Taij Criss-Felton scored 24 points Wednesday to lift Chaparral’s girls basketball team to a 50-30 win over visiting Moapa Valley.

Alexis Vanstory added 13 points for the Cowboys, who led 23-9 after one quarter.

Matilda Thompson led the Pirates with eight points.

Virgin Valley 41, Del Sol 35 — At Mesquite, Kourtney Metzger scored 12 points as the Bulldogs held off the Dragons.

Spencer Green added nine points for Virgin Valley.

Astrid Rodriguez scored 22 points to lead Del Sol.

Cheyenne 31, Mojave 28 — At Mojave, Bria Buchanan had 11 points to help the Desert Shields hold off the Rattlers.

Keyara Lemon scored 10 points for Mojave, which nearly rallied from a 16-6 halftime deficit.

Western 48, Sierra Vista 40 — At Sierra Vista, Capricia Pierce and Destiny Gonzalez each scored 16 points to help the Warriors down the Mountain Lions.

Lanisha Walker added nine points for Western, which used a 16-2 second-quarter run to take control.

Kennedy Nieves had 12 points, and Iymoni Burrell scored 11 for Sierra Vista.

Boulder City 52, Tech 20 — At Tech, Megan Morton scored 20 points as the Eagles rolled past the Roadrunners.

Katlyn Daly added 10 points for Boulder City, which held Tech scoreless in the first quarter and led 32-4 at halftime.

Lidia Woosen led Tech with five points.

4A/3A girls state roundup: Legacy, Canyon Springs ousted

Legacy and Canyon Springs couldn’t keep up in the Class 4A girls basketball state semifinals. The Southern Region representatives in 3A also were eliminated.
