GIRLS BASKETBALL: Chaparral edges Eldorado

Alexandria Williams had 11 points, and Chaparral’s girls basketball team held on for a 36-34 victory over Eldorado on Thursday.

Jai’La Vincent added nine points, and Sierra Shaw scored eight for the Cowboys, who won despite being held to one point in the fourth quarter.

Chaparral trailed by one point at halftime but used a 12-5 run in the third quarter to take a 35-29 lead.

Ka’Vianna Kitch led the Sundevils with 11 points.

Centennial 61, Cimarron-Memorial 12 — At Centennial, Justice Ethridge scored 15 points, all in the first quarter, as the Bulldogs routed the Spartans.

Jayden Eggleston added 11 points for the Bulldogs, who owned a 39-2 at the end of the first quarter

Amoura Whitney scored four points to lead the Spartans.

Green Valley 46, Palo Verde 32 — At Palo Verde, Temerity Bauer scored 11 points to lead the Gators to a road victory over the Panthers.

Mallory Davis had nine points, and Samara Miller scored eight for Green Valley, which outscored Palo Verde 10-1 in the fourth quarter.

Ariana Davis had nine points to lead the Panthers.

Canyon Springs 50, Virgin Valley 28 — At Mesquite, D’Licya Feaster had 12 points, and Yemiah Morris scored 10 as the Pioneers routed the Bulldogs.

Jeanette Fine added nine points for Canyon Springs, which led 30-16 at halftime.

Briana Todd led Virgin Valley with 16 points, and teammate Bernice Fiso scored eight.

Tech 43, Western 35 — At Western, Patrice Thomas scored 12 points, and the Roadrunners grabbed a 22-12 halftime lead before downing the Warriors.

Tayler Muwwakkil and Melissa Fuller each added eight points for Tech.

Adrianna Jones led Western with 11 points.

Bishop Gorman 58, Springville (Utah) 39 — At Gorman, Samantha Coleman had 12 points and seven steals to help the Gaels top the Red Devils in the Las Vegas Invitational.

Georgia Ohiaeri and Skylar Jackson each added 11 points for Gorman, which led 35-18 at the half.

Savannah Sumison led Springville with 14 points.

Desert Hills (Utah) 46, Faith Lutheran 45 — At Gorman, Bryanna Neagle had 19 points, but the Crusaders lost to the Thunder in the Las Vegas Invitational.

Faith Lutheran fouled Desert Hills with nine seconds left and grabbed the rebound after a missed free throw but was unable to get off a shot before the buzzer.

Madison Bocobo, Kendall Larson, Maddy Larson and Casey Proctor each had six points for the Crusaders.

Ashley Beckstrand, a Brigham Young recruit, led Desert Hills with 26 points.

Castle View (Colo.) 64, Coronado 30 — At Bishop Gorman, Haley Tyrell had 12 points, three rebounds, three assists and three steals in a loss to the Sabercats at the Las Vegas Invitational.

Coconino (Ariz.) 60, Mojave 36 — At Flagstaff, Arizona, the Rattlers lost to the Panthers in the opening round of the Pepsi Holiday Tournament.

Beaver Dam 57, GV Christian 33 — At Littlefield, Arizona, Jailene Hernandez scored 25 points as the Diamondbacks defeated the Eagles.

Danielle Garlick added 17 points for Beaver Dam, which outscored GV Chrisitan 33-15 over the middle quarters.

Abigail Johnson scored 16 points to lead the Eagles.

Smith Valley 53, Round Mountain 41 — At Virginia City, the Bulldogs grabbed a 24-14 halftime lead and downed the Knights in the Comstock Classic.
