Basic

The senior rushed for the go-ahead touchdown with 4:11 to play, then came up with a pair of key defensive stops in a 26-21 win over rival Green Valley. Funaki's 22-yard TD run gave Basic a 19-14 lead. He then stuffed Green Valley quarterback A.J. Amelburu at the line of scrimmage on fourth-and-1, and intercepted a pass as time expired to seal the win.

Chaparral

The senior quarterback completed 7 of 10 passes for 250 yards and five touchdowns in a 65-7 victory over Chaparral.

The junior went 3-0 in singles to help the Panthers to an 11-7 victory over Bishop Gorman for the Sunset Region title.

The senior won her lone singles set 6-4 to clinch the Sunrise Region title in an 11-7 win over Green Valley.

ARBOR VIEW — Girls soccer player Alyssa Larkin had a total of four goals and an assist in wins over Desert Oasis and Cimarron-Memorial. Boys soccer player Niko Dongman had a total of three goals in two games.

BONANZA — Girls cross country runner Esmeralda Hinojos placed 19th at the Lake Mead Invitational, covering the 3.1-mile course in 21 minutes, 50.1 seconds.

CENTENNIAL — Girls volleyball player Talie Bonds had 14 kills, 17 assists, two aces and 15 digs in a 3-1 victory over Desert Oasis. Boys tennis player Raul Saucedo went 2-1 in singles in a Sunset Region playoff match against Palo Verde.

CORONADO — Girls soccer player Taylor Kornieck scored nine of the team's 12 goals and assisted on another in victories over Eldorado and Green Valley.

DESERT OASIS — Football player Jalen Jona intercepted two passes in a 47-0 victory over Bonanza. Girls golfer Ashley Malone shot 10-over-par 82 to tie for fifth place at the Sunset Region tournament and qualify for state.

FAITH LUTHERAN — Girls golfer Sydney Smith shot par 72 to claim medalist honors in a I-A Sunset League match at Highland Falls.

GREEN VALLEY — Girls cross country runner Mia Smith placed second in the freshman race at the Bud O'Dea Classic, with a personal record time of 17 minutes, 1.7 seconds for 2.5 miles. Boys cross country runner Jesus Narcisco placed fourth in the sophomore race at the Bud O'Dea Classic with a personal record of 14:30.5 for 2.5 miles.

MOJAVE — Girls volleyball player Carissa Limtiaco had eight kills and 11 digs in a 3-0 win over Western.

PALO VERDE — Boys tennis player Maximilian Foels went 2-1 in singles to help the Panthers to an 11-7 victory over Bishop Gorman for the Sunset Region team title.

SIERRA VISTA — Girls soccer player Calista Reyes had a total of six goals and three assists in three games. Reyes had a hand in nine of the team's 12 goals for the week. Football player Isaiah Zavala rushed for 104 yards on 21 carries against Faith Lutheran.

SPRING VALLEY — Girls golfer Paige Jacobson cut 10 strokes off her pervious round, missing the cut by one stroke in a I-A Sunset League match at Highland Falls.
