RECRUITING: Centennial’s Jamaal Evans backs off commitment to UNR

Centennial senior quarterback Jamaal Evans announced Sunday via Twitter that he was decommitting from UNR.

Evans, a two-star recruit, according to Scout.com, was an all-state honorable mention selection as a junior. He committed to the Wolf Pack on May 13.

“I want to thank the University of Nevada and the coaching staff for everything but I’ve decided to decommit and open back up my recruitment,” Evans tweeted.

The 6-foot-3-inch, 215-pound quarterback passed for 1,807 yards and 20 touchdowns last season. He also rushed for 565 yards and 16 TDs to lead the Bulldogs to the Division I Sunset Region semifinals.

Evans also has scholarship offers from Adams State (Colorado), Idaho, UNLV and Utah State.
