Football games of the week — Week 11

The Class 4A Sunrise Region playoff seedings already will be set by this week; however, the Sunset Region will still be up for grabs.

There will be six matchups in total, and one likely will have playoff implications.

GAME OF THE WEEK

Centennial at Palo Verde — Outside of Arbor View and Bishop Gorman, these teams have been two of the top Sunset Region football schools the past five seasons.

Centennial won last season’s thriller in overtime, 31-24. But it wasn’t before Palo Verde kicker Aaron Mack nailed a 47-yard field goal as time expired in regulation to extend the contest.

Bulldogs quarterback Jamaal Evans tossed a 7-yard touchdown pass on the second play of overtime to give Centennial the win.

Will Evans do it again? Probably not. But if this season’s game is half as good as last year’s, fans are in for a treat.
