Football games of the week — Week 10

All games this week will be played on Thursday, as Nevada Day will be observed on Friday.

GAMES OF THE WEEK

Palo Verde at Shadow Ridge — With Arbor View and Centennial expected to secure the top playoff spots in the Northwest League, both of these teams will be in contention for the final two spots.

The Mustangs will be much improved after returning seven starters on offense, including sophomore quarterback Kody Presser.

Palo Verde, coming off an early playoff exit last season, will use its double-wing offense in hopes of giving the Mustangs a giant headache.

Faith Lutheran at Centennial — Faith Lutheran returns seven starters on both offense and defense, but it remains to be seen how the team will perform after being reclassified to 4A.

This will be a great test for the Crusaders.

Senior running back Christian Marshall should have a big game behind senior linemen Jaylen Flowers and Jacob Searles.

But if the run game doesn’t work out and Faith Lutheran decides to air it out, Centennial’s secondary of J.J. Johnson, Bryce Hampton and Areth Rangle could make several big plays.

And it’s hard to forget that the Bulldogs also have offensive standouts Jamaal Evans and Savon Scarver.
