Farella perfect as Cougars shut out Bengals

John Farella was a perfect 10-for-10 passing for 146 yards and four touchdowns Friday as No. 7 Coronado’s football team blitzed visting Bonanza, 41-0.

Farella connected with Tanner Gorski from 7 yards midway through the first quarter to get Coronado on the board. Michael Simpson caught a quick out that went for a 41-yard touchdown early in the second quarter. Farella then lofted one up for Brian Johnson that went for a 31-yard strike as the Cougars (2-1) went to the break up 21-0.

Farella found Simpson again for a 17-yard touchdown early in the third, and Wade Jacobs had an interception that went for a score. Nick Trejo added a 30-yard touchdown run midway through the third to cap Coronado’s scoring.

Simpson finished with 62 receiving yards.

Bonanza (0-3) was led by Chilo Dore, who ran for 26 yards on 17 carries. Quarterback Wyatt Allison added 22 rushing yards on 11 carries while ByJon Large caught two passes for 39 yards.
