Coronado dismantles Valley in 56-0 home victory

Coronado quarterback Landen Rowland passed for two touchdowns and ran for a third at home Friday night as Cougars beat up the Vikings, 56-0.

Rowland completed all three of his passes for 83 yards and two TDs. He had TD passes of 27 and 54 yards in the first half, both to Ishmael Jones.

Rowland also scored on a 3-yard run.

Carlos Perez led Coronado’s rushing attack with 59 yards and a touchdown on four carries. La’Avionce Richard, Tyler Jones and Semaj Bolin also had rushing scores for the Cougars (2-2).

Coronado limited Valley (1-3) to 70 yards of offense. The Vikings’ best opportunity to score came when Leyland Crawford returned a kick-off 85 yards down to the 5-yard line. But Valley turned the ball over on the next play following a botched handoff.

David Smith rushed for 55 yards on 16 carries for the Vikings.

Coronado also got a pair of defensive scores, with Dillon Stewart returning a fumble 42 yards for a touchdown, and D’Angelo Bottley returning an interception 80 yards for a score. Bottley finished with two interceptions.
