Outlook: Sunrise Mountain has had a tough time building a football program since the school opened in 2009.

Sawyers, who coached at Virgin Valley last season, takes over a program that has won just two games in school history. He hopes his spread offense can change that and bring some success to the school.

The Miners are led by senior Calahan, who passed for 607 yards and rushed for 451 a season ago.

“This team has the opportunity to be the best team in Sunrise Mountain history,” Sawyers said.
