Outlook: The Dragons were once among the top teams in the state, but they haven't made the playoffs since 2010.

That drought probably won't end this season. Del Sol graduated 21 of 27 players from last year's team, so there is little experience as the season starts.

There is hope for the future, as Flowers returns after leading the team in rushing with 537 yards and nine touchdowns as freshman. He rushed for 329 yards and six TDs on just nine carries in the season finale against Rancho.

With so many players making the transition to the varsity level, Maki is realistic about the upcoming season.

"The immediate outlook could be challenging, but the future could be bright," Maki said.
