BOWLING: Richards rolls pefect game to lead Las Vegas boys to win in Sunrise opener

Jamal Richards rolled a 300 game Wednesday at The Orleans to help Las Vegas High’s boys bowling team open the Sunrise Region tournament with a 7-2 win over Eldorado.

Richards’ perfect game came in the second game of his series.

Las Vegas’ team total of 2,317 pins was the best of any of the Division I teams Wednesday.

In other Sunrise quarterfinals, Liberty swept Foothill, 9-0; Coronado downed Silverado, 9-0; and Green Valley blanked Canyon Springs, 9-0.

Arbor View rolled the top team total in the Sunset Region, with a score of 2,307 en route to a 9-0 win over Legacy.

Shadow Ridge blanked Desert Oasis, 9-0. Palo Verde was a 9-0 winner over Bonanza, and Bishop Gorman downed Centennial, 7-2.

In the Division I-A state tournament, Jopfel Gapage rolled a 259 game in a 707 series that propelled Sierra Vista to a 9-0 win over Tech.

Boulder City had the best team score of the day with a total of 2,331 pins in a 9-0 win over The Meadows.

Chaparral was a 7-2 winner over Cheyenne, and Del Sol nipped Clark, 5-4.
