VOLLEYBALL: Rattlers rally to down Bulldogs in five sets

Alex Carvalho had 21 kills, six aces and four blocks Friday as Mojave’s boys volleyball team overcame a two-set deficit to beat host Centennial, 18-25, 18-25, 25-19, 25-12, 15-7.

Clayton Fontano added 13 kills, 19 digs and four blocks, and Jason Zambrano had 46 assists and 15 digs for Mojave, which also got six kills and six blocks from Antonyo Wright.

Kade Frischknecht led Centennial with 18 kills. Farries Gardner had 11 kills, and Sam Belnap dished out 47 assists for the Bulldogs.

Durango 3, Green Valley 2 — At Durango, Michael Diggins had 27 kills, seven digs and two blocks, and Jaylen Clark added 17 kills, 11 digs and three aces to lift the Trailblazers to a 21-25, 26-24, 25-16, 21-25, 15-12 victory over the Gators.

Andre Shabazz finished with 55 assists, three kills, nine digs and five blocks, and teammate Marc Viernes added 18 digs for Durango.

Dustin Elliott led Green Valley with 17 kills. Zachary Hewitt had six kills and 42 assists, and Cooper Burgess notched seven kills and four blocks for the Gators.

Basic 3, Cimarron-Memorial 0 — At Basic, Brad McDonald put down 11 kills to lead the Wolves to a 25-7, 25-10, 25-22 sweep over the Spartans.

Jeremy Schafer added three aces and four blocks, and Matt Gajeski dished out 24 assists for Basic.

Cody Brown led Cimarron with 21 digs.

Palo Verde 3, Valley 0 — At Valley, Grant Tingey had four kills and six blocks to lead the Panthers past the Vikings, 25-19, 25-19, 25-21.

Haden Van Orden had 22 assists, and Chandler Juilfs had nine kills for Palo Verde.

Marty Heavey led Valley with 18 kills. Jared Marchello added 12 kills, and Justin Sandoval dished out 31 assists for the Vikings.

Desert Oasis 3, Del Sol 0 — At Del Sol, Billy Cameron had 12 kills and four aces to lead the Diamondbacks by the Dragons, 25-16, 25-14, 25-19.

Chris Gama added seven kills, Joshua Sadama had 16 assists, and Dylan Sadama notched five assists and four digs for Desert Oasis, which also got 11 assists from Tyler Sadama.

Anthony Nehme had two kills for Del Sol.

Clark 3, Sunrise Mountain 0 — At Clark, Alan Cruz had 10 kills and two aces, and Amir Boone added eight kills and one block to lead the Chargers to a 25-13, 26-24, 25-16 win over the Miners.

Sang Hyup Shin had seven kills and 14 digs, and Antonio Martinez had 25 assists and four digs for Clark.

Nemesis McKenzie had three kills and three aces, and Ronnie Wesley notched three aces for Sunrise Mountain.

Shadow Ridge 3, Rancho 0 — At Rancho, Cody Heathcock put down 13 kills, and Cutler Leavitt added 10 kills and 12 digs to lift the Mustangs to a 25-20, 25-22, 27-25 win over the Rams.

Cameron Renner had 27 digs, and Sebastian Campos had four blocks for Shadow Ridge.

Lamont Traylor led Rancho with 19 kills, eight digs and three aces.

Canyon Springs 3, Cheyenne 1 — At Cheyenne, the Pioneers rallied for a 23-25, 25-21, 25-15, 25-15 win over the Desert Shields.

Cheyenne’s Tyler Buchanan had 12 kills and three aces.
