VOLLEYBALL: Baliza, Patriots rally to beat Skyhawks in five sets

Brandon Baliza had 11 kills, seven aces and five digs, and Liberty’s boys volleyball team outlasted host Silverado 21-25, 25-15, 25-23, 24-26, 15-10 on Thursday.

Brycen Ivester added 58 assists, three kills and two digs, and Ian Tia had 13 kills and one dig for Liberty.

Tyler Gralapp had 11 kills and 10 digs for Silverado, which also got strong contributions from Devin Ross (nine kills, two blocks), Taz Goon (eight kills, 10 digs) and Cody Steckel (23 assists).

Shadow Ridge 3, Bishop Gorman 0 — At Shadow Ridge, Cody Heathcock had 13 kills to lead the Mustangs to a 25-20, 25-20, 30-32, 25-20 victory over the Gaels.

N.J. Makaiwi had 43 assists and 13 digs, and teammate Austin Cram had seven kills and three aces for Shadow Ridge.

Del Sol 3, Sunrise Mountain 0 — At Del Sol, La’akea Cabanas had 16 assists, seven aces and five kills to lead the Dragons to a 25-14, 25-15, 25-10 sweep of the Miners.

Kalai Ho had six kills and six digs, and teammate Blane Quitog notched 14 assists and seven kills for Del Sol.

Valley 3, Canyon Springs 0 — At Canyon Springs, Alex Sandoval supplied 31 assists and five aces to lead the Vikings to a 25-11, 25-12, 25-15 win over the Pioneers.

Marty Heavey had 19 kills for Valley.

Juan Cabral had five digs, and teammate Maurice Hunter added four blocks to pace Canyon Springs.

Palo Verde 3, Durango 0 — At Durango, Michael Simister had nine kills and five digs to lead the Panthers past the Trailblazers, 25-21, 25-14, 25-19.

Chandler Juilfs had four kills, and Cole Wilson had 16 assists for the Panthers.

Jaylen Clark had 10 kills, four digs and one block to lead the Trailblazers.

Michael Diggins had five kills, three digs and three blocks, Andre Shabazz had 19 assists, three digs and one block, and Marc Viernes had three aces and six digs for Durango.

Tech 3, Chaparral 0 — At Tech, Bryant Pochop had 10 kills, three aces and seven digs to lead the Roadrunners to a 25-18, 25-17, 25-19 sweep of the Cowboys.

Josh Wood had seven kills and 11 assists, Sean Larson had four blocks, and Juan Flores had three blocks for the Roadrunners.
