TRACK: Noah Thompson leads Mojave to Grant Bushman title

Noah Thompson won two events Friday to lead Mojave’s boys track team to the team title at the Grant Bushman Invitational in Overton.

Thompson took the 100-meter dash in 11.17 seconds, and was first in the 200 in 22.42.

David Warren won the triple jump with a mark of 42 feet, 9 inches for the Rattlers, who had 122 points. Pahrump Valley was second with 111½, followed by Del Sol (77) and Desert Pines (65).

Pahrump Valley’s Bryce Odegard swept the distance events and was named the meet’s outstanding male athlete. Odegard won the 800 in 2:00.54, the 1,600 in 4:47.99 and the 3,200 in 10:48.31.

Dylan Montgomery won the 110 hurdles (15.74) and was second in the 400 for the Trojans.

Del Sol’s Jonathan Spearman had the meet’s outstanding male individual performance, clearing 6-8 to set a meet record in the high jump. Spearman also won the long jump with a mark of 21-9½.

Desert Pines set meet records in the 400 and 800 relays. Brian Johnson, Isaiah Morris, DeAundre Newsome and Antonio Wallace teamed to win the 400 relay in 43.31. Johnson, Morris, Devin McGee and Donjae Lyons won the 800 relay in 1:31.11.

In the girls meet, Abby Barnum won four individual events to help Virgin Valley finish first.

Barnum was first in the 100 (13.05) and the 200 (27.02) and also swept the hurdles events. She took the 100 hurdles in 16.4 and crossed in 46.75 in the 300 event.

Barnum’s performance earned her the meet’s outstanding female athlete award.

Virgin Valley finished with 140½ points, and White Pine was second with 114½. Moapa Valley and Mojave tied for third with 86½ points, followed by Boulder City in fifth with 86.

Boulder City’s Sara Stephenson won the pole vault at 10-7, setting a meet record. Kenadee Bailey set a meet record in the triple jump at 34-2 for the Eagles.

The Meadows’ Ellen Hirsberg swept the 800 and 1,600 races, and her time of 2:22.52 in the former was a meet record. Hirsberg won the 1,600 in 5:31.50.
