BOYS TRACK: Harris tops 7 feet in high jump, leads Basic to win

Basic’s Frank Harris cleared 7 feet, ¼ inch in the high jump Tuesday to lead Basic’s boys track team to victory in a three-team home meet.

Harris’ mark would tie for fourth in the nation this season according to Athletic.net.

Basic finished with 76 points to top Silverado (59) and Valley (42).

Justin Perez placed in the top four in four events for the Wolves. He won the pole vault with a mark of 14-6, was second in the long jump, third in the 100 and fourth in the triple jump.

Basic’s Kendrick Peterson won the 1,600-meter run in 4 minutes, 42.3 seconds and was second in the 400.

Valley’s Franky Johnston was first in the 100 (11.4) and second in the 200, and teammate Alejandro Duran was first in the 200 (23.5) and second in the 100.

Silverado’s Daniel Kneale won the 300 hurdles and was second in the 110 hurdles.

Coronado defeats Foothill

At Foothill, D’Angelo Bottley and Chais Hamilton each won two field events to help Coronado to a 106-40 win over the Falcons.

Bottley claimed the long jump with an effort of 19-3½ and the triple jump with an effort of 40-5¼.

Hamilton threw 138-1 to take the discus and had a winning effort of 46-2 in the shot put.

Bonanza wins three-team meet

At Durango, Joey Fox and Ricardo Hill each won two individual events to help Bonanza finish first in a three-team meet.

The Bengals had 103 points. Durango was second with 66, followed by Calvary Chapel with 11.

Fox won the 100 in 10.8 and the 200 in 23.3, and Hill took the long jump with an effort of 19-5 and the triple jump with a mark of 40-2.

Durango’s Frankie Bisacky won the 1,600 in 4:47 and was second in both the 800 and 3,200.
