BOYS TRACK: Cook, Rubio each win two events as Dragons win tri-meet

Toure Cook and Omar Rubio each won two events Wednesday to help Del Sol’s boys track team edge host Foothill, 86-81.

Indian Springs was third with 11.

Cook won the 110-meter hurdles in 16.0 seconds, and took the 300 hurdles in 43.9. Rubio won the 800 (2:10.7) and 1,600 (4:58.4).

Juan Cortes won the 3,200 in 11:30.0 for the Dragons and also finished second in the 800 and 1,600.

Foothill’s Dylan Weasa won the shot put (48 feet) and discus (145-8).

Jaguars take four-team meet

At Faith Lutheran, Jon McCoy won two events and was second in another to lead Desert Pines to victory in a four-team meet.

McCoy won the long jump (21-1) and triple jump (43-5) and was second in the 200 for the Jaguars, who finished with 86 points.

Pahrump Valley was second with 73, followed by Faith Lutheran (71) and Virgin Valley (42).

Desert Pines’ Eric Wilkes won the 100 (11.11) and ran on the winning 400 and 800 relay teams. Tim Hough was part of the winning 400, 800 and 1,600 relay teams for the Jaguars.

Faith Lutheran’s Chase Wood won the 800 (2:10.35) and 1,600 (4:41.94) and ran on the winning 3,200 relay team.

Pahrump’s Mike Carlson won the 110 hurdles (15.59) and 300 hurdles (45.78) and placed third in the pole vault.

Wildcats down Skyhawks

At Silverado, Miguel and Randy Ramirez each won one event and finished second in another to help Las Vegas earn a 93½-43½ win over the Skyhawks.

Miguel Ramirez was first in the 3,200 (10:52.1) and second in the 1,600 behind teammate Hector Ortega-Torres (4:53). Randy Ramirez won the discus (123-10) and took second in the shot put.

Ortega-Torres was second in the 3,200 and third in the 800 for the Wildcats.

Silverado’s Cyrus Ghaffari won the 110 hurdles (15.7) and the 300 hurdles (42.4).

Clark, Sunrise Mountain tie for first

At Clark, Alexander Floyd swept the throwing events to help Clark tie Sunrise Mountain for first place in a four-team meet.

The Chargers and Miners both finished with 75 points. Western was third with 62, and Moapa Valley had 60.

Floyd had marks of 107-10 in the discus and 38-5½ in the shot put.

Moapa Valley’s R.J. Hubert won four events, taking the 100 (11.4), 110 hurdles (15.6), 300 hurdles (42.6) and high jump (6-0).

Western’s Carlos Cerda captured the 800 in 2:09.2 and the 3,200 in 10:46.3.

Pioneers beat Rams

At Canyon Springs, the Pioneers swept the relays to beat Rancho, 89-46.
