BOYS TRACK: Bracken finishes first in three events as Gorman wins three-team meet

Nikolas Bracken finished first in three events Tuesday to lead Bishop Gorman’s boys track team to victory in a three-team home meet.

Bracken won the 100-meter dash in 11.17 seconds. He was first in the triple jump with a mark of 39 feet, 9½ inches, and also tied for first in the high jump, clearing 5-4. Bracken was second in the long jump.

The Gaels finished with 96 points to top Legacy (72) and Indian Springs (6).

Haskell Garrett won the shot put (47-10½) and discus (15-1) for Gorman.

Legacy’s Jamaal Britt won the long jump (21-6), 300 hurdles (39.45) and 110 hurdles (15.49).

Silverado tops Foothill, Laughlin

At Foothill, Michael Guzman, Vernon Jackson and Matthew Arnold each won one event and finished second in another to lead Silverado to victory in a three-team meet.

Guzman won the 300 hurdles (40.84) and was second in the 110 hurdles. Jackson won the long jump (21-4½) and was second in the triple jump, and Matthew Arnold won the triple jump (45-1) and was second in the long jump for the Skyhawks, who had 107 points.

Foothill was second with 66½, and Laughlin finished third with 9½.

Centennial wins three-team meet

At Centennial, Savon Scarver and Dominic Roberts each won two individual events to lead the Bulldogs to victory in a three-team meet.

Scarver won the 100 (10.96) and 200 (21.79), and Roberts took first in the 800 (2:03.68) and 1,600 (4:39.42) for the Bulldogs, who finished with 145 points.

Palo Verde was second with 85 points, and Spring Mountain was third with 42 points.

Pahrump Valley wins five-team home meet

At Pahrump, Bryce Odegard won two individual events to lead the Trojans to victory in a five-team meet.

Odegard broke an 11-year-old school record in the 1,600 (4:30.16) and also was first in the 400 (54.1) for the Trojans, who finished with 130 points.

Del Sol was second with 109 points, followed by Desert Pines (47), Virgin Valley (36) and Beatty (16).

Myles Dunn won the triple jump (42-½) and the 110 hurdles (16.2) for the Dragons. Jonathan Spearman won the long jump (20-7½) and high jump (6-2) for Del Sol, and teammate Taaric Flowers was first in the 100 (11.1) and 200 (23.0).

Mojave tops Spring Valley, Western

At Spring Valley, Adrian Moreno and Don Phillips each won two individual events as the Rattlers defeated Spring Valley and Western in a three-team meet.

Moreno won the 1,600 (5:03.0) and the 3,200 (12:00.9), and Phillips took the shot put (40-7) and the discus (137-5) for Mojave, which finished with 109.83 points. Western was second with 33.67 points, and Spring Valley was third with 29.5 points.

Western’s Kwan Carter won the triple jump with an effort of 42-5 and was second in the long jump.

Coronado wins four-team meet

At Coronado, Chais Hamilton and Dillon Stewart each won two events to lead the Cougars to victory in a four-team meet.

Hamilton took the discus (131-6) and shot put (47-0), and Stewart was first in the 100 (11.35) and 200 (23.58), which won the meet with 108 points.

Canyon Springs was second with 46, followed by Eldorado (23) and Australian Select (6).

Isaiah Johnson won the triple jump (43-1), long jump (20-2) and 110 hurdles (16.0) for the Pioneers.
