BOYS SOCCER: Foothill hands Coronado first league loss

Kapono Maruyama scored midway through the first half, and Foothill’s boys soccer team held on for a 1-0 home win over Coronado on Monday.

Reagan Mugume assisted on Maruyama’s goal.

Logan Lake made three saves to earn the shutout for Foothill (9-5-2, 7-2 Southeast League), which handed the Cougars (14-3, 8-1) their first league loss.

Silverado 2, Liberty 1 — At Liberty, Frank Rodriz broke a tie in the 52nd minute to give the Skyhawks the victory over the Patriots.

Sean Borla also scored for Silverado, which led 1-0 at halftime.

Quinn Rankin scored Liberty’s goal on an assist by Hayden Trasad.

Clark 1, Sierra Vista 0 — At Clark, Tristan Polakowski made seven saves for the Mountain Lions to preserve a shutout over the Chargers.

Joel Makwashi scored Sierra Vista’s goal in the second half, and Kevin Medina had the assist.

Durango 4, Spring Valley 0 — At Durango, four Trailblazers scored and Paolo Sarnataro made five saves to shut out the Grizzlies.

Alfredo Robles-Rodriguez had a goal and an assist, and Juan Garcia, Jamie Munguia and Alejandro Corchado each scored once.

Del Sol 5, Chaparral 1 — At Del Sol, Diego Flores-Diaz scored two goals to lift the Dragons over the Cowboys.

The win gives the Dragons their first Sunrise League title in school history.

Ruben Ortiz and Diego Nieves each scored added a goal and had two assists for Del Sol. Sergio Calderon also scored for the Dragons.

Omar Miranda scored for Chaparral.

Bishop Gorman 6, Desert Oasis 1 — At Desert Oasis, Justin Rasmussen scored four goals as the Gaels rolled past the Diamondbacks.

Alexander Daseler and Hayden Madsen each added a goal for Gorman.

Eric Ramos had Desert Oasis’ goal.

Tech 6, Virgin Valley 0 — At Tech, Andres Santana had two goals and two assists as the Roadrunners blanked the Bulldogs.

Asish Pandey also scored two goals for Tech, which scored five goals in the second half.

Alex Meija and Joel Velazquez each scored goals added a goal for the Roadrunners.

Goalkeeper Kenny Flores was credited with the shutout.

Green Valley 11, Basic 1 — At Green Valley, Pablo Pena scored five goals to as the Gators routed the Wolves.

Estevan Uribe, Deven Scott and Kevin Yanez each added a goal and two assists for the Gators, who scored eight first-half goals.

Dante Marinaro had a goal and an assist, and Cole Aronson and Jose Vila Barrios each scored a goal for Green Valley.

Agustin Molina added three assists for the Gators.

Boulder City 2, Moapa Valley 0 — At Boulder City, Sebastian Balmer scored twice in the Eagles’ victory over the Pirates.
