GOLF: Trent shoots 3-under to lead Palo Verde to Southwest League win

Jack Trent carded a 3-under-par 69 at TPC Summerlin on Monday to earn medalist honors and lead Palo Verde’s boys golf team to victory in a Southwest League match.

Cameron Barzekoff added a 72 for the Panthers, who shot 371 as a team to beat Bishop Gorman by eight strokes. Shadow Ridge was third at 438.

Shadow Ridge’s Tanner Johnson shot 70.

Gorman’s Mitchell Abbott shot 73, and teammates Christian James and Joseph Williams each shot 74 for the Gaels.

Trojans defeat Boulder City

At Mountain Falls, Austen Ancell shot 3-over 75 to earn medalist honors and help Pahrump Valley to a 416-441 win over Boulder City.

Derek Moore added a 77 for Pahrump.

Kyler Atkinson led Boulder City with a 76.

Coronado shot a second-day 19-over 307 for a two-day total of 27-over 603 to win the Class 5A boys state golf championship at Coyote Springs Golf Club in Moapa Valley.
