Noah Hartsock has been promoted to the head coaching position for Centennial’s boys basketball program, the school announced Friday morning.
Hartsock, who previously was an assistant coach, takes over a team that finished 24-4 last season and reached the Sunset Region finals before losing to Bishop Gorman, 71-69.
“We’re extremely excited to bring Noah aboard,” Centennial athletic director Mike Livreri said. “He brings a lot of energy and enthusiasm and he’s excited for the job. (Former) Coach (Todd) Allen was highly recommending him, being that he already was a part of the program last year.”
The Bulldogs will return three Division I players this season, including ESPN’s No. 28 overall player in the class of 2017 in Troy Brown, and should once again compete for a state berth.
Livreri believes the transition to Hartsock will help the players.
“He knows the boys well and they know him,” Livreri said. “We just feel like it’s a great fit with a good team (returning) this year. The (recent success) is something Noah will continue to build upon.”
Prior to being an assistant coach for Centennial, Hartsock spent two years as a graduate assistant coach for Brigham Young. He also played professionally in Belgium after his four-year BYU career.
Hartsock replaces former coach Todd Allen, who compiled a 156-43 record over seven seasons before resigning in July.
