BOYS BASKETBALL: Ryan Kiley, Gaels top Durango

Ryan Kiley had 20 points Friday as Bishop Gorman’s boys basketball team earned a 93-61 road win over Durango to secure the Southwest League’s top playoff berth.

The Gaels and Clark each finished 11-1 in the league and the teams split during the season, but Gorman moved on because of head-to-head points allowed. The Gaels outscored the Chargers 132-131 in the two head-to-head meetings.

Jamal Bey added 19 points for Gorman, which had five players in double figures. Chuck O’Bannon added 17 points, Christian Popoola scored 16 and Noah Taitz 10 for the Gaels.

Demetrius Valdez led Durango with 14 points. Anthony Hunter and Vernell Watts each had 13 points, and Jeremie Portuondo scored 12 for the Trailblazers. Durango will be the Southwest’s No. 4 playoff seed.

Boulder City 61, Moapa Valley 55 — At Boulder City, Karson Bailey connected on two of his six 3-pointers in the final 1 minute, 30 seconds as the Eagles rallied past the Pirates.

Bailey scored a game-high 24 points, and Carson Balistere added 10 points for Boulder City.

Trey Jones scored 21 points to lead the Pirates, and Nathaniel Thompson added 13 points for Moapa Valley.

Calvary Chapel 63, Laughlin 40 — At Laughlin, Elijah Martinez had 15 points as the Lions topped the Cougars.

Arron Abay added 10 points for Calvary Chapel, which outscored Laughlin 20-6 in the third quarter to pull away.

Laughlin’s Corey Anderson led all scorers with 25 points.

Agassi Prep 79, Lincoln County 58 — At Agassi Prep, Akeemis Williams had eight 3-pointers and totaled 26 points in the Stars’ victory over the Lynx.

Allen Merritt had 20 points and 10 rebounds for the Stars, and Jared Holmes had 10 points and 10 rebounds.

Justin Barton led the Lynx with 14 points, and Kevin Matthews scored 11.

The Meadows 53, Lake Mead 42 — At The Meadows, Jake Epstein led all scorers with 19 points as the Mustangs defeated the Eagles.

Asheesh Chopra added 11 points for the Mustangs, who led 37-24 at halftime.

Pahranagat Valley 60, Beaver Dam 21 — At Alamo, Tabor Maxwell led all scorers with 18 points as the Panthers defeated the Diamondbacks.

Cody Williams had nine points for the Panthers, who led 33-10 at halftime.

Word of Life 61, Tonopah 54 — At Tonopah, the Eagles defeated the Muckers to earn the Class 1A Southern League’s final playoff berth.

Beatty 52, Round Mountain 43 — At Beatty, the Hornets took down the Knights.
