BOYS BASKETBALL: Molchon’s buzzer-beater lifts Crusaders

John Molchon’s basket as the overtime buzzer sounded gave Faith Lutheran’s boys basketball team a 64-62 home win over Mojave on Thursday.

The Rattlers missed a shot with about nine seconds to go in overtime. The Crusaders rebounded and Jaylen Fox dished to Molchon for the winning layup.

Zach Friel had 26 points and 10 rebounds to lead Faith Lutheran. Molchon added 12 points and 16 rebounds, and Elijah Kothe scored 11 for the Crusaders.

Daryl Adams had 21 points, and Malik Abbott scored 20 for Mojave, which outscored Faith Lutheran 17-10 in the fourth quarter to force overtime.

Jordan Glenn added 15 points for the Rattlers.

Shadow Ridge 62, Durango 55 — At Shadow Ridge, Jerell Springer had 24 points, 12 rebounds and six assists to guide the Mustangs to victory over the Trailblazers.

Juwan Johnson scored 13 points, and Melvin Johnson added 10 points for Shadow Ridge, which led 43-41 going into the fourth quarter.

Apollo Corley scored 16 points to pace Durango.

Palo Verde 70, Legacy 62 — At Palo Verde, Ja Morgan had 28 points, and the Panthers outscored the Longhorns 28-18 in the fourth quarter to secure the win.

Taylor Miller added 21 points for Palo Verde, which got just four points from leading scorer Grant Dressler, who entered the game averaging 20.0.

Shakir Arrey led Legacy with 18 points. Jacob Rainey added 16 points, and Brody Olenslager scored 12 for the Longhorns.

Spring Valley 58, Cheyenne 32 — At Spring Valley, Jalen Cannon had 14 points to lead three double-figure scorers as the Grizzlies defeated the Desert Shields.

Curtis Owens added 12 points, and Travis Walton scored 10 for Spring Valley, which led 25-15 at the half.

Carl Albert had six points, nine rebounds, five assists and six steals for the Grizzlies, who were 14-for-14 from the free-throw line.

Ulises Santillan scored 12 to lead Cheyenne.

Sierra Vista 88, Pahrump Valley 50 — At Sierra Vista, Jasper Cook scored 23 points as the Mountain Lions downed the Trojans.

Maui SeraJosef and Maka Ellis each added 16 points for Sierra Vista, which led 51-29 at the half.

Daniel Foss led Pahrump with 25 points.

Clark 59, Western 31 — At Clark, Ty’Rek Wells had 18 points to help the Chargers pull away from the Warriors.

Carter Olsen added 11 points for Clark, which led 16-6 after one quarter.

Wyatt Rozea and Zamond Washington each scored 12 points for Western.

Boulder City 41, Sunrise Mountain 35 — At Sunrise Mountain, Tyler Newby scored 10 points as the Eagles rallied from a 14-11 halftime deficit to top the Miners.

Trellis Quinn and Ja’Terrius Parks each had seven points for Sunrise Mountain.

Desert Pines 73, Tech 18 — At Desert Pines, Trevon Abdullah had 18 points, seven rebounds and six steals to help the Jaguars rout the Roadrunners.

Capri Uzan added 17 points, and Marckell Grayson scored 11 for the Jaguars.

Jordan Simon had seven points, six assists and three steals, and Bryan Johnson pulled down seven rebounds for Desert Pines.

Crawford Linden scored eight points to lead the Roadrunners, who trailed 34-5 after one quarter.

Adelson School 66, Pahranagat Valley 51 — At Adelson, Rom Izkovich scored 19 points as the Lions handed the Panthers their first Division IV Southern League loss.

Jake Buchman added 16 points, and Francis Ventura scored 11 for Adelson, which outscored Pahranagat Valley 25-12 in the second quarter to take a 41-25 halftime lead.

Tabor Maxwell led the Panthers with 15 points, and teammate Culen Higbee scored 11.
