BOYS BASKETBALL: Burton’s big night allows Vikings to top Canyon Springs

Cameron Burton had 27 points and 11 assists as Valley’s boys basketball team downed visiting Canyon Springs 79-72 on Thursday.

The Vikings led throughout and took a 53-39 lead into the fourth quarter before the Pioneers rallied, eventually cutting Valley’s lead to five points late in the quarter behind Channel Banks.

However, Valley’s Darrion Daniels hit two key 3-pointers down the stretch. Daniels finished with 20 points.

Taveon Jackson had 16 points and eight rebounds for the Vikings, and Shea Garland had 12 rebounds.

Banks had 23 points to lead Canyon Springs, and Jordan Davis added 19 points.

Liberty 67, Silverado 56 — At Silverado, Ed O’Bannon had 27 points to lead the Patriots over the Skyhawks.

Tai Senor added 15 points for Liberty, which led 20-7 after one quarter.

Michael Larson led Silverado with 13 points. Jireh Johnson and Kris Coe each added 12 points, and Matthew Arnold scored 11 for the Skyhawks.

Desert Pines 77, Las Vegas 65 — At Desert Pines, Capri Uzan scored 26 points — including a 14-for-16 effort from the free-throw line — and had seven assists as the Jaguars downed the Wildcats.

Coby Myles had 19 points and five steals, and Trevon Abdullah had 14 points and 10 rebounds for the Jaguars, who led 41-25 at halftime.

Devon Colley scored 26 points to lead Las Vegas, and teammate Tyler Bey scored 14.

Coronado 54, Foothill 48 — At Foothill, Andrew Palma had 12 points, and Nick Kornieck added 11 points as the Cougars downed the Falcons.

The game was tied at 37 at the end of three quarters.

Torrance Littles had 13 points for Foothill, and Colin Curi added 12 points. Kevin Woodland notched 11 points, and Jeron Bodin scored 10 for the Falcons, who were 4-for-11 from the free-throw line.

Basic 62, Green Valley 58 — At Green Valley, Josh Villaros scored 21 points to help the Wolves slip past the Gators.

Matthew Esplin added 15 points for Basic.

Romello Jones had 19 points and 10 rebounds to lead Green Valley. Brandon Burke hit five 3-pointers and finished with 17 points, and teammate Xavier Jarvis had 11 points, seven rebounds and eight assists for the Gators.

Bonanza 67, Cimarron-Memorial 63 — At Bonanza, D.J. Fletcher scored 13 of his 24 points in the fourth quarter, including a 7-for-7 effort from the free-throw line, to help the Bengals hold off the Spartans.

Jamal Logan added 16 points, and DaVonta Price had 14 points and 11 rebounds for Bonanza, which led 38-26 at halftime.

Jadon Brown had 13 points, and Terrell Walker scored 12 for Cimarron, which got 10 points apiece from Jaron Ponder and Demarco Alexander.

Centennial 73, Arbor View 32 — At Centennial, Darrian Traylor led all scorers with 23 points as the Bulldogs blasted the Aggies.

Troy Brown finished with 19 points, five rebounds and six assists, and Aaron Turner pulled down six rebounds for the Bulldogs, who connected on 10 3-pointers.

Centennial started the game with a 24-7 run and never looked back.

Trent Hunt scored 10 points to lead the Aggies.

Eldorado 50, Rancho 46 — At Rancho, Carmonte Jones scored 19 points to lead the Sundevils by the Rams.

Carl Crayon added 12 points for Eldorado, which carried a 38-31 lead into the fourth quarter and held on.

David McKeever had 17 points, and Lamont Traylor added 11 points and 10 rebounds for Rancho.

Adelson School 67, Round Mountain 25 — At Adelson School, Rom Izkovich had 18 points, and Jake Buchman scored 16 to lead the Lions past the Knights.

Brandon Pappas added 12 points for Adelson School, which nailed seven 3-pointers and didn’t attempt a free throw in the game.

Bryce Hunter scored 19 points to lead Round Mountain.

Word of Life 57, Coral Academy 52 — At Word of Life, Elijah Hoye scored 14 points to help the Eagles edge the Falcons.

Jarrett Fisher added 13 points, and Caleb Murphy scored 12 for Word of Life.
