2016 All-State Boys Basketball Teams

First Team

Troy Brown, Centennial (6-6, G)

The junior was the Northwest League Most Valuable Player. He averaged 19.0 points, 9.5 rebounds and 6.3 assists in leading the Bulldogs to a Sunset Region runner-up finish.

Aamondae Coleman, Desert Oasis (6-5, F)

The senior averaged 18.1 points, 10.1 rebounds and 1.1 blocked shots for the Diamondbacks. He shot 55 percent from the field, and made the All-Northwest League’s first team.

Zach Collins, Bishop Gorman (7-0, C)

The Gonzaga-bound senior was selected to play in the McDonald’s All American game. He was the Southwest League’s Most Valuable player, and averaged 17.3 points, 14.0 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 6.4 blocked shots.

Jake DesJardins, Coronado (6-8, F)

The senior was co-Most Valuable Player of the Southeast League and led the Cougars to the Sunrise Region title. He averaged 20.1 points, 9.6 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.6 steals.

Taylor Miller, Palo Verde (6-3, G)

The senior led the state in scoring, averaging 27.0 points. Miller, who has signed with Southern Utah, also averaged 3.8 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 3.3 steals in earning first-team All-Southwest League honors.

Charles O’Bannon, Bishop Gorman (6-5, G/F)

The junior was the leading scorer for the Division I state champs, averaging 21.4 points, 5.3 rebounds and 2.2 assists. He made the All-Southwest League first team.

Second Team

Asa Carter, Carson (6-0, G)

The senior was the Sierra League Player of the Year, leading the Senators to the Northern Region title. He averaged 14.8 points, 5.0 rebounds and had 62 steals.

Michael Diggins, Durango (6-8, F)

The senior averaged 10.9 points, 6.3 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 1.5 steals and 1.3 blocked shots. He was a first-team All-Southwest League pick.

Xavier Jarvis, Green Valley (6-3, G)

The senior was the co-Most Valuable Player in the Southeast League. He averaged 26.1 points, 6.3 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 3.0 steals.

Kennedy Koehler, Coronado (6-6, F)

The junior averaged 17.8 points, 14.0 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 2.2 steals in helping the Cougars to the Sunrise Region title and state runner-up finish. He made the All-Southeast League first team.

Marcus Loadholt, Spanish Springs (6-3, G)

The junior averaged 18.2 points, 2.6 rebounds and 1.6 steals. He was the High Desert League Player of the Year.

Capri Uzan, Desert Pines (5-11, G)

The junior was the Division I-A Southern Region co-Most Valuable Player. He averaged 16.1 points, 5.3 assists, 3.5 rebounds and 1.7 steals for the Southern Region champs.

Third Team

Octavian Corley, McQueen (6-11, C)

The senior averaged 18.6 points, 8.2 rebounds and 3.3 blocked shots. He was a first-team All-High Desert League pick.

Jayden DeJospeh, Carson (6-4, Jr., F)

The junior averaged 15.3 points and 7.0 rebounds for the Northern Region champs. He made the All-Sierra League first team, and shot 40 percent on 3-pointers and 82 percent from the line.

Darius Jackson, Clark (6-4, F)

The senior was the Division I-A Southern Region co-Most Valuable Player. He averaged 13.3 points, 4.7 rebounds and 1.6 steals for the I-A state champs.

Chase Ruiz, Durango (6-4, G)

The senior averaged 14.1 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists. He was a second-team All-Southwest League pick.

Jerell Springer, Shadow Ridge (6-5, F)

The junior averaged 20.4 points, 9.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists. He made the All-Southwest League first team.

Dillon Voyles, Galena (6-6, F)

The junior averaged 16.6 points, 5.8 rebounds and 2.7 assists. He made the All-Sierrra League first team.

Coach of the Year

Shelby Jones, Silverado

The Skyhawks were dismal in the 2014-15 season, finishing 1-23, but placed second in the Northeast League under the first-year head coach. Silverado went 19-9 and advanced to the Sunrise Region semifinals.
