1A BASKETBALL: Beatty’s boys top Word of Life, earn semifinal berth
Beatty’s boys basketball team moved into the Class 1A Southern League semifinals with a 57-51 home win over Word of Life on Wednesday.
The Hornets (14-5) will meet Pahranagat Valley (22-2) in a semifinal at 4:40 p.m. Friday at Sunrise Mountain.
Word of Life finished 7-11.
Round Mountain 65, Beaver Dam 39 — At Round Mountain, the Knights downed the Diamondbacks (4-21) in a Class 1A Southern League quarterfinal.
Round Mountain (11-9) will face top-seeded Spring Mountain (13-10) in a semifinal at 8 p.m. Friday at Sunrise Mountain.
GIRLS
Beatty 65, Word of Life 28 — At Beatty, the Hornets routed the Eagles (4-9) in a Class 1A Southern League quarterfinal.
Beatty (12-6) will meet Round Mountain (14-6) in a semifinal at 3 p.m. Friday at Sunrise Mountain.
Beaver Dam 34, Tonopah 31 — At Tonopah, the Diamondbacks edged the Muckers (7-11) in a Class 1A Southern League quarterfinal.
Beaver Dam (10-11) will meet top-seeded Pahranagat Valley (14-8) in a semifinal at 6:20 p.m. Friday at Sunrise Mountain.
