ROUNDUP: Bosnos, Boulder City earn win in California

Colton Bosnos went 3-for-4 with a double, a triple, a run and an RBI to lead Boulder City’s baseball team to a 9-0 win Tuesday over Kearny (Calif.) at the Lions Tournament in Poway, Calif.

Austin Shepard was 1-for-2 with a double and two RBIs, and Seth Kermode went 2-for-2 for Boulder City.

Mario Castanon and Preston Van Diest combined on a three-hitter. Castanon got the win, allowing all three hits and striking out three in five innings.

Helix (Calif.) 4, Rancho 3 — At La Mesa, Calif., the Highlanders scored once in the bottom of the seventh to nip the Rams in the Lions Tournament.

Bryce Harrell was 3-for-4, and Jose Verdugo went 2-for-4 for Rancho.

Mira Mesa (Calif.) 2, Silverado 1 — At San Diego, the Marauders scored twice in the bottom of the sixth to edge the Skyhawks in the Lions Tournament.

Nick Kawano threw a two-hitter, walking two and striking out five for Silverado, and teammate Kevin Pindel was 1-for-2 with an RBI double.

Cathedral Catholic (Calif.) 4, Green Valley 1 — At San Diego, the Dons scored four unearned runs in the bottom of the sixth to top the Gators in the Lions Tournament.

Connor Lunn fired a three-hitter with nine strikeouts and no walks for Cathedral Catholic.

Green Valley’s Jarrett Perns was 3-for-3 with a double and a run. Keola Paragas went the distance, allowing four hits and striking out nine, for the Gators.

Coronado 16, San Ysidro (Calif.) 4 — At San Ysidro, Calif., Jackson Cofer struck out seven in 5 2/3 innings and was 3-for-4 with a double, a triple and four RBIs to lead the Cougars by San Ysidro in the Lions Tournament.

Nate Ruiz went 2-for-5 with a sixth-inning grand slam, and Donte Glover finished 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs for Coronado. Austin Garcia was 2-for-4 with two RBIs.

Daniel Tellez and Rigo Leyva each went 2-for-3 with two RBIs for San Ysidro.

La Jolla (Calif.) 10, Foothill 1 — At La Jolla, Calif., Alex Eliopulos was 2-for-4 with two RBIs to power La Jolla over the Falcons in the Lions Tournament.

Foothill starter Zack Avery gave up two earned runs on seven hits in six innings.

Pahranagat Valley 23-18, Beatty 2-4 — At Alamo, the Panthers scored 12 runs in the third inning en route to the five-inning win in the first game.

Jordan Cryts, Wade Leavitt and Caleb Hansen each drove in three runs for Pahranagat Valley.

In the second game, Leavitt and Geoff Mortensen each drove in three runs as the Panthers rolled.

SOFTBALL

Eagle Rock (Calif.) 10, Faith Lutheran 3 — At Los Angeles, the Crusaders gave up 10 hits and had six errors in their five-inning loss to the Eagles in the Lincoln Spring Fling.

Samantha Jack had an RBI triple for Faith Lutheran, which scored all of its runs in the top of the fifth before the game was called due to a time limit.

Allison Gatdula was 2-for-2 with a double, a triple and two RBIs for Eagle Rock.

Palos Verdes (Calif.) 7, Boulder City 0 — At Palos Verdes Estates, Calif., Kasey Halleen went 3-for-4 with two doubles and three RBIs to help the Sea Kings to a win over the Eagles.

Boulder City had just one hit in the game.
