CSN’s Mikey York, Faith Lutheran’s Zack Trageton sign with Tampa Bay Rays

The top two Southern Nevada players selected in this year’s Major League Baseball draft each have signed professional contracts in recent days and will forgo their Division I college commitments.

College of Southern Nevada’s Mikey York (5th round, 150th overall), a former Basic High standout, and Faith Lutheran’s Zack Trageton (sixth round, 180th overall) both agreed to terms with the Tampa Bay Rays, according to MLB.com.

York, who previously committed to Arizona State, signed for under slot value at $297,500. The right-hander was slotted at $368,400. He recently overcame Tommy John surgery.

Trageton signed for $525,000, almost double his slot value ($275,900). His bonus is currently the third-highest payout to a sixth rounder in the 2016 draft. The righty previously signed with Utah.

Both player’s starting assignments have yet to be determined.
