BASEBALL: Virgin Valley rallies to top Tech

Virgin Valley’s baseball team rallied for three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning on Tuesday to earn a 5-4 victory over visiting Tech.

Trailing 3-2, Virgin Valley tied the game on a sacrifice fly by Dallan Tanner. Jayden Perkins singled home the go-ahead run, and Easton Jensen added an RBI single to make it 5-3.

Perkins was 2-for-4 with a run and two RBIs, and Jensen went 2-for-4 with an RBI. Kayden Peterson was 2-for-3 with two runs for Virgin Valley.

Jayce Otis went 2-for-3 with a double, a run and an RBI to lead Tech. Gabe Kermode allowed one earned run on six hits in 5⅔ innings for the Roadrunners. Kermode struck out 11.

Shadow Ridge 6, Faith Lutheran 0 — At Faith Lutheran, Jesse Meyer fired a one-hitter, and the Mustangs rallied for six runs in the top of the eighth to top the Crusaders.

Meyer struck out eight in eight innings with two walks.

The first four Shadow Ridge batters walked in the eighth to force home the go-ahead run. Meyer added a two-run single, and two more walks forced in another run. Vinny Archer had a sacrifice fly for the final margin.

Faith Lutheran starter Josh Brown pitched seven shutout innings. He allowed three hits and one walk and struck out 11.

Silverado 2, Basic 1 — At Silverado, the Skyhawks scored the go-ahead run on an infield error in the fourth inning and went on to nip the Wolves.

Michael Janosik tied the game at 1-1 with an RBI double in the fourth for Silverado.

Winning pitcher Sam Pope combined with Grant McCarty on a three-hitter, with McCarty picking up the save.

Cimarron-Memorial 6, Arbor View 5 — At Cimarron, Jack Kannon scored on an error in the bottom of the sixth to break a 5-5 tie and give the Spartans the win over the Aggies.

Kannon walked with one out, and Cameron Stafford followed with a single to center. Kannon came all the way around to score on an error by the center fielder.

Trevor Doyle went 2-for-3 with a double, a run and two RBIs, and Derek Decolati was 2-for-4 with a double and two runs to lead Cimarron.

Jackson Folkman was 2-for-3 with a run for the Spartans.

Nick Restifo pitched three hitless innings of relief with two strikeouts to get the win.

Trey Urban and Logan Santos each went 1-for-3 with two RBIs for Arbor View, which scored five runs in the top of the fourth to take a 5-3 lead.

Boulder City 7, Moapa Valley 5 — At Boulder City, Anthony Pacifico went 4-for-4 with two RBIs and a run as the Eagles topped the Pirates.

Jacob Hubel went the distance for the Eagles, striking out nine. He also had an RBI. Noah Higgins had a double for Boulder City.

Chase Guesman and Tyler Peterson each doubled for the Pirates, and Anthony Cornwall and Daxton Longman each added an RBI and a run.

Bishop Gorman 5, Sierra Vista 1 — At Sierra Vista, the Gaels rallied for four runs in the top of the fifth to come from behind and beat the Mountain Lions.

Sierra Vista led 1-0 going to the fifth, but Gorman got RBI singles from Jorel Hingada and John Gaughan and scored two runs on an error to take the lead.

Gaughan was 2-for-4 with four RBIs, and Nick Israel went 2-for-2 with a run for the Gaels.

Jack Kirvin allowed one run on one hit in 6⅔ innings of relief to get the win. He struck out four with one walk.

Sierra Vista’s Cooper Kitrel tripled and scored on an error in the bottom of the fourth.

Liberty 11, Canyon Springs 6 — At Canyon Springs, Michael Wong went 3-for-3 with a triple and three RBIs to power the Patriots over the Pioneers.

Kaeden Camat-Toki had a triple for the Patriots, and Kevin Clark doubled.

Canyon Sprigns’ Trevor Berkemeyer had a home run and a double, and Sebastian Sotelo doubled for the Pioneers.

Legacy 8, Palo Verde 1 — At Legacy, Ulysses Herrera went 3-for-3 with a triple, a run and four RBIs to lead the Longhorns past the Panthers.

Anthony Lomeli was 2-for-3 with two doubles, two runs and an RBI for Legacy.

Willie Valdez-Grijalva went the distance to get the win. He allowed a run on six hits with five strikeouts.

Jaret Godman had a solo home run in the fourth inning for Palo Verde, and Ryan Merino went 2-for-3 with a double for the Panthers.

Rancho 9, Foothill 1 — At Rancho, David Arambula was 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs as the Rams topped the Falcons.

Layton Walls tossed six solid innings, allowing one earned run, to get the win. Angel Walker and Kagen Kennedy each supplied two hits for the Rams, who got three RBIs from Anthony Guzman.

Anthony Pannullo had three hits, and Parker Cole added an RBI double for Foothill.

Desert Oasis 10, Durango 0 — At Desert Oasis, winning pitcher Brett Brocoff fired a one-hitter with eight strikeouts and doubled and drove in two runs as the Diamondbacks blanked the Trailblazers in five innings.

Chaison Miklich doubled and drove in two runs, and Parker Schmidt added a double for Desert Oasis, which led 8-0 after two innings.

Bonanza 13, Clark 1 — At Clark, Jay DeSoto was 2-for-3 with a double, a run and three RBIs to help the Bengals to the five-inning win over the Chargers.

Nick DeSoto went 3-for-3 with two runs and two RBIs, and Danny Ruiz was 1-for-2 with three RBIs for Bonanza.

Jay DeSoto allowed a run on three hits over four innings to get the win.

Green Valley 14, Valley 0 — At Valley, A.J. Amelburu and Tyler Heiny combined on a no-hitter as the Gators topped the Vikings in five innings.

Amelburu struck out six and walked one in three innings to get the win. Heiny struck out two in two hitless innings of relief.

Amelburu also went 1-for-2 with a double and two RBIs, and Heiny was 1-for-1 with a double and two RBIs for Green Valley.

Brandon Bayne went 2-for-2 with a double, three runs and two RBIs for the Gators.

Coronado 15, Eldorado 0 — At Coronado, Landen Rowland tripled and drove in three runs, and Cade Printy supplied a double and three RBIs as the Cougars slugged their way past the Sundevils in four innings.

Noah Hemphill went 2-for-3 with two RBIs for Coronado.

Owen Hallett pitched three innings and got the win for the Cougars, combining with Sean Hofmans on a two-hitter.

Indian Springs 20, Calvary Chapel 2 — At Indian Springs, Philip Reimer was 3-for-4 with two doubles, a triple and four RBIs as the Thunderbirds routed the Lions in three innings.

Devon Sickler went 3-for-4 with two doubles and three RBIs for Indian Springs, which got two hits apiece from Nino Alvarez and Wrench Perry. Zach Williams earned the win and combined with Jordan Flamm on the four-hitter.

Alec Neider tripled, and Kennedy Campbell had an RBI for Calvary Chapel.

Laughlin 10, Needles 7 — At Laughlin, the Cougars defeated the Mustangs.
