BASEBALL: Steven Giatti’s double gives Durango win over Boulder City

Steven Giatti’s walk-off RBI double in the ninth inning knocked in Jacob Bavaro and gave the Durango baseball a 6-5 home win over Boulder City on Friday.

Durango’s Richard Mascarenas tossed six innings with four earned runs and six strikeouts, and Jacob Suitor pitched two innings of relief to earn the victory. Mascarenas also went 3-for-4 and had an RBI.

Durango’s Duke Pahukoa went 2-for-4 with an RBI, and Justin Lucas had two doubles. Josh Barry went 2-for-4 for the Trailblazers.

Faith Lutheran 5, Cimarron-Memorial 1 — At Faith Lutheran, Zach Phillips scattered six hits in a complete game as the Crusaders topped the Spartans.

Phillips allowed an unearned run in the fifth inning. Paulshawn Pasqualotto was 2-for-2 with two RBIs and a run to lead the Faith Lutheran offense.

Zach Culver went 2-for-3 for Cimarron.

Clark 7, Del Sol 0 — At Del Sol, Brendan Palmer threw a one-hitter as the Chargers blanked the Dragons.

Palmer fanned six. The only hit he allowed was an infield single by Del Sol’s Chandler Miller in the third inning. It was the second one-hitter thrown by the Chargers this week.

Palmer and Guy Tannenbaum each doubled for Clark, and Thomas Campbell tripled.

Desert Oasis 9, Sierra Vista 4 — At Desert Oasis, Chaisson Miklich went 2-for-3 with two doubles and three RBIs to help the Diamondbacks top the Mountain Lions.

Brett Brocoff went 3-for-4, and Gage Ventura had a double and two RBIs for Desert Oasis, which scored five runs in the bottom of the first.

Kyle Fuentes and Parker Schmidt each added two hits for the Diamondbacks.

Cooper Kitrel was 2-for-3 with a double for Sierra Vista. Nicholas Morice and Cody Culpepper each added two hits for the Mountain Lions.

Chaparral 11, Western 1 — At Chaparral, James Cobian fired a three-hitter with 11 strikeouts to lead the Cowboys to a five-inning win over the Warriors.

Robert O’Connor, Erick Villarreal and Antonio Vara each went 2-for-2 for Chaparral.

Coronado 12, Silverado 2 — At Coronado, Jake McLean’s three-run homer helped power the Cougars past the Skyhawks.

Boston Mabeus went 2-for-2 with a double and three RBIs, and Kyle Hall went 2-for-4 with two RBIs.

Ryan Murphy allowed two runs and struck out six over 5⅓ innings to pick up the win.

Rancho 17, Valley 1 — At Rancho, the Rams scored nine runs in the first inning as they rolled past the Vikings in four innings.

Rancho pitcher Daniel Abina threw all four innings, allowing one run and had seven strike outs.

Kagen Kennedy hit a grand slam, and Edarian Williams went 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs for Rancho. Matthew Baughn went 2-for-3 with three RBIs, and Joey Walls had two doubles and a RBI for the Rams.

Shadow Ridge 6, Timpanogos (Utah) 2 — At St. George, Utah, Dylan Baker went 3-for-4 with two doubles and three RBIs as the Mustangs topped the Timberwolves in the Red Rock Classic.

Trent McGregor was 2-for-3 with a double and two runs for Shadow Ridge, which scored four runs in the fourth inning.

K.C. Philippou pitched five strong innings to get the win. He allowed no earned runs on four hits with three strikeouts.

American Fork (Utah) 7, Shadow Ridge 3 — At St. George, Utah, the Cavemen scored thee runs in the top of the first en route to the win over the Mustangs in the Red Rock Classic.

Vinny Archer was 2-for-3 with a dobule and an RBI for Shadow Ridge.

Parowan (Utah) 6, Lincoln County 5 — At Panaca, the Lynx surrendered three runs in the seventh inning and fell to the Rams.

Lincoln County’s Kevin Goodman tossed a solid five innings, allowing one run and three hits. Kamden Lewis went 3-for-3 with an RBI for the Lynx.

Cody Thornock and Dean Ottley each went 2-for-4 with an RBI for Lincoln County.

Pahranagat Valley 17, Beaver Dam 1 — At Alamo, seven Panthers scored multiple runs in their four-inning rout of the Diamondbacks in the Pahranagat Valley Invitational.

Ike Taylor was 2-for-2 with three walks, three runs and a stolen base for the Panthers, and also threw a two-hitter with five strikeouts. The Beaver Dam run was unearned.

Preston Higbee and Stockton Maxwell each scored three runs for Pahranagat Valley. Maxwell, Carter Robinson, John Hansen, Reese Thornton and Kyler Martin each had two RBIs for the Panthers.

Thornton had a triple, and teammate Haigan Huntsman doubled.

Pahranagat Valley 16, Eureka 0 — At Alamo, Christian Higbee was 3-for-4 with two doubles, four runs and four RBIs as the Panthers beat the Vandals in four innings in the Pahranagat Valley Invitational.

Garett Higbee was 1-for-1 with three RBIs, and Ike Taylor was 2-for-2 with three runs for Pahranagat Valley.

Christian Higbee threw a one-hitter with six strikeouts to get the win.

Indian Springs 5, Lake Mead 0 — At Mountain View, the Thunderbirds’ Zach Williams and Dillon Pollock combined to shut out the Eagles in five innings in the Spring Slam Tournament.

The Meadows 9, JV Pahrump Valley 3 — At Mountain View, Trey Covell doubled, and Brett Lieuallen got the win as the Mustangs beat the JV Trojans in four innings in the Spring Slam Tournament.

JV Pahrump Valley 13, Indian Springs 8 — At Mountain View, the Trojans’ JV team scored nine runs in the third inning to pick up a four-inning win over the Thunderbirds in the Spring Slam Tournament.

Bishop’s School (Calif.) 12, Lake Mead 2 — At Mountain View, Collin Douglas and Ford Eldridge each doubled in the Knights’ four-inning victory over the Eagles in the Spring Slam Tournament.

Bishop’s School (Calif.) 15, Calvary Chapel 0 — At Mountain View, Mick Barber hit two doubles as the Knights rolled over the Lions in three innings in the Spring Slam Tournament.
