BASEBALL: Silverado’s Jerald Murray throws no-hitter with 14 strikeouts in win over Valley

Jerald Murray threw a no-hitter with 14 strikeouts to help Silverado’s baseball team earn a 5-0 win at Valley on Thursday.

Murray walked one, and the Skyhawks finished with one error.

Dax Fellows had an RBI double and a run, and Patrick Ballinger added an RBI single for Silverado, which scored three runs in the top of the fifth inning to take control.

Relief pitcher Jacob Cruz and starter Bryce Cowin combined to strike out 13 batters for Valley.

Liberty 8, La Jolla (Calif.) 7 — At the College of Southern Nevada, pinch runner Dakota McIntire scored the winning run on a passed ball in the top of the seventh inning as the Patriots rallied from a six-run deficit to stun the Vikings in the Bishop Gorman Desert Classic.

Dylan Miller reached on a walk to open the inning and was substituted for McIntire, who advanced to third base on a pair of fielder’s choices before scoring. Michael Wong struck out two of the three batters he faced in the bottom-half of the inning to earn the save for Liberty, which trailed 7-1 after four innings.

The Patriots scored the tying run in its three-run sixth inning when Kevin Clark doubled home Jacob Rogers.

Luis Reyes, who picked up the win after throwing two innings of relief, started the sixth-inning rally with a single at the plate for Liberty.

Cimarron-Memorial 11, Legacy 8 — At Legacy, pitcher Trevor Doyle went 2-for-5 with a double and a run, and the Spartans scored nine runs in the top of the seventh inning to defeat the Longhorns.

Doyle entered in the seventh and struck out two to earn the save.

Cody Koslowski doubled, and Jackson Folkman had a triple, two runs and two RBIs for Cimarron, which trailed 8-2 after the sixth inning.

Anthony Lomeli went 2-for-3 with a triple, two runs and two RBIs to lead Legacy. Johnny Ball tripled, and Jacob Crawford doubled for Legacy.

Del Sol 11, Tech 8 — At Del Sol, winning pitcher Tyler Foreman went 3-for-4 with a double, a triple and three RBIs to lead the Dragons past the Roadrunners.

Foreman threw 6⅓ innings and struck out three, and Jose Galicia entered in the seventh in relief to earn the save.

Chandler Miller was 2-for-2 with a double, and Phil Talamo went 1-for-3 with a three-run double for Del Sol, which trailed 3-1 after the first inning. The Dragons tied the game in the third and broke it open with a seven-run fifth inning.

Gabe Kermode was 2-for-3 with three RBIs for Tech, which got a double from Jayce Otis, Oscar Reynoso and Jose Leon.

Arbor View 6, Faith Lutheran 0 — At Faith Lutheran, Jaxon Sproul threw a three-hitter with seven strikeouts, and the Aggies scored three runs in the first inning to get off to a strong start before downing the Crusaders.

Sproul threw 62 of his 99 pitches for strikes (62.6 percent) and walked just one.

Logan Santos was 2-for-3 with three RBIs, and Joe Fitzhugh went 1-for-3 with a triple for Arbor View, which got two hits apiece from Deangelo Smith and Nick Cornman.

Brayden Palluck, Jacob Ortega and Lucas Dockery each singled for Faith Lutheran.

Moapa Valley 5, Virgin Valley 1 — At Mesquite, Anthony Cornwall was 2-for-2 with a double, a triple and a pair of RBIs to lead the Pirates to a win over the Bulldogs.

Virgin Valley’s Cade Anderson went the distance and struck out six in the loss.

Green Valley 10, Eldorado 0 — At Green Valley, Drake Maningo threw a one-hitter with seven strikeouts as the Gators routed the Sundevils in five innings.

Maningo allowed a hit to Travis Bowe in the top of the fifth inning and walked his only batter right after.

Carter Gehlken was 3-for-4 with a double, two runs and three RBIs, and A.J. Amelburu went 1-for-3 with a triple and three RBIs for Green Valley, which also got three RBIs from Matt Uran.

Desert Oasis 16, Alta (Utah) 8 — At Desert Oasis, Parker Schmidt was 3-for-3 with a triple and five RBIs as the Diamondbacks took down the Hawks in the Bishop Gorman Desert Classic.

Brett Brocoff and Aaron Roberts both homered for the Diamondbacks, who led 11-2 after three innings.

Cole Schaefer went 2-for-3 for Desert Oasis.

Bishop Gorman 13, Tucson (Ariz.) 1 — At Gorman, Braxton Wehrle hit a grand slam, and the Gaels scored eight runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to enact the run rule and top the Badgers in five innings in the Bishop Gorman Desert Classic.

Dutch Landis threw a one-hitter with four strikeouts to earn the win for Gorman.

John Gaughan, Austin Wells and Nick Hernandez also hit home runs, and Jorel Hingada went 2-for-2 with a double, a triple and an RBI for the Gaels, who finished with 10 hits.

Coronado 18, Canyon Springs 6 — At Canyon Springs, Zach Hose went 3-for-4 with a double and six RBIs to lead the Cougars past the Pioneers.

Jake McLean also went 2-for-4 with a double for Coronado, which plated 13 runs in the top of the third inning.

Brennan White pitched three innings in relief of Ryan Murphy to pick up the win.

Trevor Berkemeyer went 3-for-3 with a double and a RBI to lead the Pioneers. Giovani Benuto went 2-for-2 with a double.

Rancho 17, Las Vegas 5 — At Las Vegas High, Anthony Guzman went 2-for-4 with a double, a home run and four RBIs, and the Rams scored 10 runs in the top of the seventh inning to run away with a victory over the Wildcats.

Braeden Hedge went 2-for-5 with a home run and three RBIs for Rancho, which led 7-3 after four innings and finished with 20 hits.

Joey Walls and Layton Walls each tripled, and Edrian Williams, Miguel Elicerio and Kagan Kennedy all doubled for Rancho.

Michael Shy gave up three runs and fanned two over five innings to earn the win.

Kevin Verduzco and Martin Simmons each doubled for the Wildcats.

The Meadows 23-11, Adelson School 9-1 — At The Meadows, Adam Martinez was 3-for-4 with two doubles and four RBIs as the Mustangs took both games of the doubleheader over the Lions.

Sam Kaplan went 3-for-4 with a double for The Meadows in the opener and tossed a one-hitter with six strikeouts in the nightcap. Adam Martinez hit a two-run homer in the nightcap as part of a six-run fourth inning.

Brian Capp doubled for Adelson School in the opener. Sammy Katz had the Lions’ lone hit in the second game.

Indian Springs 8, JV Pahrump Valley 3 — At Indian Springs, Phillip Reimer went 3-for-4 with a double, a run and three stolen bases to help the Thunderbirds defeat Pahrump Valley’s junior varsity.

Reimer also pitched an inning of relief for Indian Springs, which led 4-0 after two innings.

Elyas Jones tripled for the Thunderbirds, who got an RBI apiece from Zach Williams, Wrench Perry and Devon Sickler.

Eureka 19, Round Mountain 7 — At Round Mountain, Dalton Lopez had three hits and three RBIs to help the Vandals top the Knights.

Carlin Hooper and Bryson Wells each added three hits for Eureka.

Diego Rodriguez struck out nine in 4⅓ innings for Round Mountain, which had just two hits.
