BASEBALL: Robinson’s single gives Spartans win over Bengals

Micquel Robinson’s two-run single with two outs in the top of the seventh inning Monday lifted Cimarron-Memorial’s baseball team to a 4-2 win at Bonanza.

The Spartans took a 2-0 lead in the third inning on an RBI triple by Robinson and a sacrifice fly by Adam Mitchell, but the Bengals rallied to tie the game on Frankie Valle’s two-run single in the bottom of the sixth inning.

Tyler Giovinco started the Spartans’ seventh-inning rally with a walk and moved to second on Jamie Yanchisin’s single to right field. Luis Flores sacrificed to move both runners up before Logan Bottrell lined out to first base for the second out.

Robinson, who went 3-for-4, then singled up the middle to give Cimarron a 4-2 lead.

Larry Quaney tossed a six-hitter, striking out 13 for the Spartans.

Alec Taft was 2-for-3 for Bonanza.

Coronado 7, Foothill 6 — At Coronado, Jacen Yergensen went 4-for-4 with a double and three RBIs, and the Cougars scored all of their runs in the first inning and held off the Falcons.

Tanner Bellamy was 2-for-4 for Coronado.

Collin Dobrolecki was 2-for-4 with two home runs for Foothill, which scored five runs in the top of the first inning. Ryan Moyes added a solo homer, and Zack Avery blasted a three-run homer for the Falcons in the first inning. Avery finished 2-for-3.

Western 2, Cheyenne 1 — At Cheyenne, Edgar Reyes tossed a six-hitter with 13 strikeouts and drove in the go-ahead run in the top of the seventh inning to push the Warriors by the Desert Shields.

Reyes, who went 3-for-4, singled home Osvaldo Escobar with no outs in the top of the seventh. Ricardo Ordorica was 1-for-4 with a double and an RBI for Western.

Orestes Marquetti was 3-for-3 for Cheyenne.

Pahrump Valley 5, Mojave 4 — At Mojave, Josh Mortensen was 2-for-4 and scored two runs to help the Trojans nip the Rattlers.

Chad Uyeno tossed a six-hitter and struck out five for Pahrump.

Chase Anderson was 1-for-3 with a triple and two RBIs for Mojave.

Desert Oasis 9, Legacy 3 — At Desert Oasis, Dominic Paratore was 2-for-3 with a home run, a double and four RBIs to lead the Diamondbacks over the Longhorns.

Alex Tafesh was 2-for-3 with a home run for Desert Oasis.

Donta Williams went 2-3 with a double for the Longhorns.

Faith Lutheran 10, Clark 0 — At Faith Lutheran, Jordan Dreibelbis threw five shutout innings to help the Crusaders beat the Chargers in six innings.

Dreibelbis allowed two hits and a walk and struck out nine.

Logan Etherington went 2-for-3 with a double, two runs and two RBIs to lead Faith Lutheran’s offense.

Eldorado 20, Del Sol 3 — At Del Sol, winning pitcher Joseph Torres went 2-for-3 with a home run and four RBIs as the Sundevils blitzed the Dragons in five innings.

Trevor Swain was 3-for-3 with a double and three RBIs, and Jason DeMaria was 3-for-4 with a triple, a double and two RBIs for Eldorado.

Christian Wallace went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs for the Dragons, and teammate Cordell Bowie was 2-for-2 with a triple and an RBI.
