BASEBALL: Junge, Bengals knock off fourth-ranked Arbor View

Hunter Junge hit a go-ahead two-run home run in the bottom of the third inning Thursday, and Bonanza’s baseball team held on for a 10-5 home win over fourth-ranked Arbor View in a Northwest League game.

Junge finished 2-for-3 with four RBIs for the Bengals, who handed Arbor View (4-1) its first league loss. Bonanza, which trailed 3-2 going into the bottom of the third, moved to 2-3 in league play.

Casey Ladeira was 3-for-4 with two runs and three RBIs for Bonanza, and teammate Chris Dunn went 2-for-3 with three runs. Eric Shultz added a double for the Bengals, who added three runs in the fifth and three in the sixth.

Bonanza finished with with 15 hits.

Ryan McHale and Joe Fitzhugh each had home runs for Arbor View.

Desert Oasis 3, Cimarron-Memorial 2 — At Cimarron, A.J. Landis scattered eight hits to lift No. 6 Desert Oasis over the second-ranked Spartans.

Landis struck out six and walked three. Both Cimarron runs came in the third inning. Caeden Marin went 2-for-2 with a double and two runs scored for the Diamondbacks.

Dominic Paratore drove in two runs, and Gage Venture went 2-for-4 with a RBI for the Diamondbacks, who jumped out to a 3-0 lead.

Adam Mitchell was 2-for-4 with a double and a RBI for the Spartans.

Foothill 10, Coronado 9 — At Foothill, the Falcons scored three runs on a throwing error in the bottom of the seventh to edge the Cougars.

Kaelii Maruyama and Trenton Price had consecutive singles to lead off the inning, and Austin Wilson reached on a bunt single to load the bases. Ricky Kinney hit a comebacker to the mound, and the pitcher threw home to force Maruyama for the first out.

The catcher’s return throw to first sailed down the right-field line, and all three runs scored to give the Falcons the win.

Price was 3-for-4, and Spencer Throgmorton drove in two runs for Foothill.

Nicco Festa went 2-for-3 with a double, a triple, three runs and two RBIs for Coronado, which scored three runs in the top of the seventh to take a 9-7 lead.

Dane Wasden was 2-for-3 with a double, a run and two RBIs, and Jordan Dalrymple had two hits for the Cougars.

Palo Verde 6, Las Vegas 5 — At Las Vegas, J.D. Brooks went 2-for-4, including a two-run home run, to key a three-run fifth inning as the Panthers edged the Wildcats.

Daniel Heller belted a solo homer to left field in the second inning, and teammate Ryan Merino provided two doubles, two runs and an RBI for Palo Verde, which led 6-3 after the top of the fifth.

Ryan Freimuth, Hector Perez and Eddie Ojeda each had two hits to lead Las Vegas.

Pahrump Valley 7, Clark 2 — At Pahrump, Kyle Kral threw a five-hitter with six strikeouts as the Trojans defeated the Chargers.

Josh Mortensen went 2-for-4 with two RBIs, and teammate Carlos Rivera supplied two hits, two runs and an RBI for Pahrump, which had a four-run fourth inning.

Guy Tannebaum was 2-for-3 with a double and a run, and Brendan Palmer contributed a two-run double for Clark.

Spring Valley 12, Cheyenne 0 — At Cheyenne, Nick Rupp threw a three-hitter with 13 strikeouts and went 2-for-3 with a triple and two RBIs to help the Grizzlies blank the Desert Shields.

Carter Lambeth was 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs for Spring Valley. Michael White went 2-for-3, and Jake Sellinger added a double for the Grizzlies, who led 6-0 after six innings.

Sierra Vista 9, Mojave 4 — At Mojave, Jhared Gonzalez struck out seven in four innings to earn the win and had a two-run single to lead the Mountain Lions over the Rattlers.

Matthew Cox went 3-for-3 with a run and a walk for Sierra Vista, which overcame a 4-0 deficit after three innings.

Chandler Smith and Sean Cutolo each supplied a double, a single and an RBI for the Mountain Lions.

Chase Anderson and Elijah Glaze each had two hits and an RBI for Mojave, which got a triple from Brady Allen.

Tech 13, Canyon Springs 3 — At Canyon Springs, winning pitcher Alexis Acosta was 2-for-3 with a double and three runs as the Roadrunners topped the Pioneers in five innings.

Trevor Kephart was 3-for-3 with a double, two runs and three RBIs, and Logan Campbell was 2-for-4 with three RBIs for Tech. Chandler Gehring was 2-for-4 with a triple, a run and an RBI for Tech.

Rancho 11, Eldorado 1 — At Rancho, Anthony Becerra was 3-for-4 with two runs to help the Rams to the five-inning win over the Sundevils.

Kavion Kealoha went 2-for-2 with double and four RBIs, and Robert Spinelli was 2-for-2 with two runs for Rancho.

Andrew Wieger threw a five-hitter with three strikeouts to get the win.

Faith Lutheran 7, Western 0 — At Western, the Crusaders won by forfeit.
