BASEBALL: Cade Adams throws shutout as Diamondbacks win

Cade Adams threw a one-hit shutout Tuesday to help Desert Oasis’ baseball team to a 6-0 win over Coronado (Calif.) in the Lions Tournament in Coronado, Calif.

Adams struck out nine and didn’t allow a walk.

Nolan Kingham went 3-for-4 with an RBI ground-rule double for the Diamondbacks, who scored five runs in the first inning. Bryson Stott was 2-for-4, and Chase Adams went 1-for-3 with two RBIs for Desert Oasis.

Green Valley 4, Kennedy (Calif.) 2 — At San Diego, Christian Straub and Thomas Rivera combined on a two-hitter to help the Gators top the Cougars in the Lions Tournament.

Jarrett Perns was 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI, and Jimmy Montiel was 2-for-3 with a run for Green Valley. Blake Inouye went 1-for-1 and scored twice for the Gators.

Rancho Bernardo (Calif.) 5, Coronado 2 — At San Diego, the Broncos scored four runs in the third inning and held off the Cougars in the Lions Tournament.

Jake McLean was 1-for-1 with an RBI for Coronado.

West Hills (Calif.) 11, Rancho 3 — At Santee, Calif., Joey Krug tossed a five-hitter to lead the Wolf Pack by the Rams in the Lions Tournament.

Anthony Becerra went 2-for-2 and scored a run for Rancho, which committed eight errors in the game.

Cathedral Catholic (Calif.) 4, Silverado 1 — At San Diego, Preston Price and Jordan Chang combined on a three-hitter as the Dons downed the Skyhawks in the Lions Tournament.

Silverado scored its run on a throwing error in the third inning.

Dos Pueblos (Calif.) 11, Boulder City 4 — At Goleta, Calif., Luke Coffey went 2-for-3 with a triple, three runs and three RBIs to lead the Chargers by the Eagles in the Anaheim Lions Tournament.

Nolan Desantis was 4-for-4 with a run and an RBI, and Peyton Koopman went 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI for Boulder City.
