Outlook: The Falcons’ 13 returning lettermen include only three starters.
Throgmorton (.298 average/4-1, 3.23 ERA, 26 innings, 28 strikeouts) and Wilson (.327, 12 RBIs) lead the list of returnees.
“The returning varsity lettermen have made great strides, and along with a handful of sophomores and freshmen, this team should have the ability to contend for a possible sixth playoff appearance in the last seven years,” Iglitz said.
“Seniors Spencer Throgmorton, Austin Wilson and Rick Kinney, and freshman Andrew Hauck should anchor the pitching staff. Offensively, the Falcons will hope for contributions up and down the lineup. Most of the key contributors from last year’s team have moved on, which means that each player will have to find a way to pick up the slack.”
Iglitz said potential leaders on offense could include Kinney, Wilson, Throgmorton, juniors Jack Fredericksen, Alec Mathis and Shay Landers, and sophomore Kaelii Maruyama.
